True, with no jungler available, then request mid. Particularly if you're Veigar as he's quite capable of mid with some practice with his combos. Horizon on them to proc stun, meteor, Q and ignite can often take down people somewhat early game. A nice little tip to not waste as much mana as well is to keep the respective farming skills at level 1 as long as possible. I'm speaking as an old Nasus solo player (also do it from time to time), if you keep Q at level 1 and just score the last hits, you'll slowly farm up to be a beast and with the free points in W and E, you gain even more control over your lane.

I'm not a traditional Veigar player and cannot really help you there, I imagine a maxed Meteor hurts like a mothafucka though.
