It is easy to say it because it's the right move. Then again, having become a victim of it, and singlehandedly losing the game because of it, I have experience with that particular brand of failure. The point is, if you THINK somebody's going to be protected, then don't go for that person. Blah blah, history repeats itself, blah blah learn from past mistakes, blah blah, John Doe's terrible at Mafia.
As well, Jarka's power immediately ends the day. That day phase (where Jarka pardoned Whompt) would have still had several hours left for people to vote, unvote, open new arguments, etc. Saying that she "just happened" to log on at that time isn't really an incredibly lucky break (at least in the sense that she miraculously saved Whompt's ass at the last minute), though the fact she actually DID save him was a lucky break for the town.
