You don't need to be jungle to control the map effectively. A good player will dominate the game and control the map anyway. It's still a valid point though, introducing junglers this early will often give your team an advantage if you kindly tell your solo to stay defensive.
@nod at JD: Wards should always be purchased, yes. If no one does it for you, you do it yourself. You're with people in this range who do not understand the term support, initiator (if someone says tank I will link a real tank), damage dealer etc. If you're going to carry the team you'll be rolling in enough money to pick up 2-3 wards anyway. You can ask, but ask kindly. "BUY SOME FUCKING WARDS" is not kindly.
I've seen proof of a high ELO player just solo queuing and raping faces. He wasn't playing jungler. He was playing Nidalee (you probably guessed who it was by now). I wish he'd do it again but last time, he got a suspension for it due to a misunderstanding (if I remember correctly) or he just broke the rules (if I don't remember correctly).
e: also pretty sure I carried somewhat hard with Soraka in a 3v3 game of ours, you might not have been there though.
