You'll find it becomes increasingly common that people refuse to do this.

I have mixed feelings about it. While communication is very important to the game, so is individual awareness. People not doing that definitely helped me get used to checking the map and trying to keep a tab on what's going on.

Just a heads up, really.

Pretty much this. MIA calls are a courtesy. Don't rely on them. It is just as much your responsibility to watch for them as it is for the others, if not more since you'll be the one dying. Its frustrating to die to a gank, I totally agree, but don't be the guy at the other mid tower the entire game and repeatedly dying and blaming the other lane for not calling it. If you get that someone on their team has shown a tendency to go roaming, adjust your play style to fit it. If you aren't willing to put a bit of extra attention on their lane (since you now know they'll be coming from bot repeatedly, so you should try to check bot's minimap often), then play more defensively and ward more.

Also, regarding the "I NEED MID GANK", there are two times this drives me up the wall. One is if I'm Jungling and this isn't the occasional gank, but instead happens so often that I'll get blue and basically stand around in one of lanes until my buff entirely wears off, then go cover another, then go back to the first, etc. What happens is that you are losing xp from recalling so much (though this is preferable to you staying there if you are losing your lane) and I am losing xp due to spending so much time walking from lane to lane and not being near dying creeps. This puts me in a situation where I am underleveled against those lane opponents and get to where I won't be able to hold the lane either, which snowballs. I also hate when someone screams about needing a gank but absolutely won't stop pushing to their tower. Too often I'll see a solo top repeatedly pushing all the way to their tower against two opponents, and then suddenly the other jungler comes out behind them and fucks their shit up. Who's fault is that? Apparently its the entire rest of our team, because "wtf, I'm owning these noobs but I get 3v1'd because no mia call on their jungler and their jungler actually ganks while our jungler fucks around in jungle!" Maybe stop pushing the lane under their tower and you can get that gank.

The other time is when we don't have a jungler. People like to get completely dominated in their lane and bitch in chat repeatedly that they need a gank, but fail to accept that all the other lanes are also getting dominated.

Long story short, if you have to "get a gank plz" too many times in your lane, then you should have just duo laned instead of pretending to solo, since two people are in your lane almost as much as one.
