The Like/Hate Thread

Like: Just read Carrie. That book is awesome.

Like: Next up is Salem's Lot, and it holds a special place in my heart. My mum refused to let me read Harry Potter books when I was at home (and not at college, though of course I read them anyway). Her rationale was that she had an 'experience' when she was in high school. She was in the school library and picked up Salem's Lot off the bookshelf, and immediately felt demonic forces emanating from the book. She dropped it to the floor and left, and had nightmares all night (she described it as something like 'conviction' or whatever). "So," she'd say, "demons can be a part of books, and it's nothing to play with, and I absolutely don't want that in my house."

I'm torn between leaving the book laying around just to see her reaction, and leaving her be.
