If one player is struggling, it's up to the team to adjust their play to compensate. That can mean laning an extra person with them, protecting them during team fights, putting wards where they tend to be, or even just following them around as a five-man gank squad.
There are also mechanics in place to keep one person from losing the game, such as death streaks, and punishes people who just feed off of a single person with kill streaks and assist streaks.
There's a reason Summoner's Rift is 5v5 and not 1+1+1+1+1v5.
EDIT: Understanding where you, as a player, is definitely important, but thinking that your performance alone can unbalance something that dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of people fine-tune 40-hours a week is just silly. Your team failed you just as much as you failed them.
