While I usually approach games with exactly the mindset Tryg talked about -- I'd honestly rather feel like I'm improving than having fun (and I'll happily do both, don't get me wrong) -- I wanted to emphasize something.
That's been said a lot and I think it's a good way to approach the game. If people are crossing that line from "constructive" to "jackass," then call them out on that. It helps everyone see where that line actually is (since it can change from person to person). It may seem confrontational, which isn't always the most comfortable thing in the world, but look at it as giving constructive criticism of their constructive criticism (can we go deeper?).
