Sure, and I've squeaked out a lucky draw after dropping a free rook in Chess.
There are two categories:
1) Losing games, but not lost. Good defensive play and awareness can turn things around. These are the good ones to play out.
You might not win these, but they can be ideal learning experiences, of grinding down every minor advantage into a tangible gain, and doing everything possible to minimize your disadvantages. And hell, you'll win some.
2) Lost games. Stomped every teamfight, taking turrets at will, full control over baron. These are the ones you surrender.
Yes, you CAN win those in category 2. Everyone has their favorite anecdote (usually including just how crucial they were to their team's win). But crossing your fingers that your opponent will make an extremely stupid blunder is neither instructive nor fun.
