Well all you're wasting is the slow proc from triforce. And seeing as getting triforce just gives your such huge bonuses anyway (all the increases over the base item amounts for only 300 gold too!) that it isn't really that bad.
More often than not, though, if you're building triforce you wont really be building FM next as there will be other, more important, items to be getting for most champs.
