Unlocked all the new weapons, none seem great but they're all level 1 so maybe that'll change.
Also got the Batarian Sentinel and Krogan Vanguard. Both. Are. So. GOOD
The Krogan Vanguard has more shields/health than other Krogans. Being able to recover 100% shields with an attack that also instantly covers long distances (and sets up heavy melee) is exactly as good as it sounds. His Biotic Charge power has a longer cooldown than other Vanguards. I played him on Gold against the Geth and it still recharges fast enough to keep him alive for a long time.
Plus he's got Barrier that's like magic Tech Armor - damage reduction, buffs melee, can explode (i kinda miss ME2's version where it was shields on top of shields, but that would make him immortal). I think he also has some kind of grenade, but I didn't bother putting points into it because CHARGE-MELEE-RAGE is all I want to do. He's fuckin huge though, there's this armor ridge on top of his hump that makes low-cover useless.
Batarian Sentinel is interesting. Can't dodge at all, which is frusterating, but they have decent HP/shields. Blade Armor is exactly what it sounds like, blades that reduce damage taken, buff melee and do return-damage when you get melee'ed. His weight-reduction evolution is unique: -25% to both sniper rifles and shotguns. Thought about trying that combo on a Soldier, but never did because the available weapons don't synergize well. Currently carrying Viper X and Katana X for the hell of it. His Training power also gives +ammo capacity along with weapon damage, very nice for most sniper rifles and shotguns since they have low capacity.
His Net power is slow to cast, slowly moves through the air (maybe slowest projectile) and is weak. Almost anything outside of melee range can dodge it, anything in melee range will hit you if you try it. Kinda disappointed because it sounded awesome from the evolution descriptions. When it does work, it can paralyze the enemy for a moment, which is important for the next thing...
Batarian. Heavy. Melee. Without a doubt it is the strongest melee in the game. That's because it auto-aims for the head every time, no matter what, which means a cool +150% damage. Punch a Cannibal (which are Batarians btw) in the back of its hump? It's face will still explode when hit. With Blade Armor up it will take three bars off a Brute on Silver, and I didn't even upgrade him for the highest potential melee power. The only problem is the amount of time the Batarian spends charging up his melee weapon, it's at least two seconds, and you can be interrupted by an instakill from the monster you're attacking. But with correct timing I can run up and knock a Phantoms head off in one punch. I love it every time that happens. feelsgoodman.jpg
