Somewhere between watching the Clone Wars cartoon and playing SWTOR, I just ... 'got over' Star Wars. It feels like with this level of spinnoffage, we should see some development, some progression in the universe, but it's still exactly the same. Even with TOR, which is thousands of years before the movies, it still feels exactly the same. It's only a tiny detail really, but it hit home when someone pointed out the bounty hunter's carbonite freeze, which is an obvious 'homage' to the original movies. It feels like pandering though, and even at the expense of consistency (wasn't freezing people in carbonite something that hadn't been tested when they did it to Solo?)
Same reason I don't read comics. It's incredibly patronising to get fed the same shit over and over because whoever makes these calls would rather not take risks, and because of the vocal people who flip their shit when volume 2 isn't just more of volume 1.
