Hubb? New game mechanics? Canon and customs? Bah, it's getting way too convoluted! I was a member of this RPG for a long time but it lost its it factor when it lost its member base, and it lost a large chunk of that member base when it lost its canons. I understand why some people enjoy customs, and some people have taken a lot of time to make their customs theirs, I'm sure, but I took a lot of time to make my canon mine back in the day and I've never really found another RPG that I've been able to do the same on since then. The XP system was alright for a little while, but I think that everything turned into a systematic complication. I know no one can code our old power level calculator, but man, that thing was the shit.
I'd probably only rejoin Chubbs if I could play as a canon again, but it would take a Pulp Fiction-esque shot of adrenaline right into the heart of Chubbs to bring the life back into this RPG that it used to have. The times, they are a-changin'! These are the days of overly self-indulgent romance RPGs with loose and interchangeable themes pulled from the week's craze on television. Where combat and competitive writing are lost to a pretentious audience who wants to roleplay posts and posts of dialogue with brief, predictable action in between to punctuate it.
I don't think it's the ideas that are the problem anymore, I think the problem is obvious if you surf any RPG currently experiencing popularity.
That being said I'd give this RPG a shot again if we can get some good ol' fashion competitive combat based roleplaying. My favorite moments on this site were always without question the fights to the death with a judge coming in at the end. That's the only thing that set this RPG apart from any other.

To me, the thread is less about criticizing/defending Avatar and more about wondering how stoned Jack was when he saw the movie/made the thread.
