I think that Peter was not able to actually acquire powers from the villians as he was inside another's body at the time of it happening. I also don't quite know if he can absorb powers from his future self, as that'd just be cheating and cause a real resonance problem.
About Sylar... I know what you mean there, but at the same time I think (and this bothers me as much as it entertains me) that they are just trying REALLY hard to let their fans know which of their favorite characters are back, as well as re-establish broken storylines. They are trying to handle a LOT of different storylines immediately, and in some ways it hurts a bit, although I see why they are doing it. I for one missed seeing more involving Mohinder that episode.
Anyone else find irony in "The German" having the power of magnetism, ala Magneto? Yeah, that screamed of him being killed off early.
