Booooo nylon strings.
I'd only use those if you are playing classical guitar or doing finger style picking.
Get either lighter picks, or heavier gauge strings. I used to break my high E all the time, pissed me off to no end. I started using light picks and that problem went away. Now they only break when they get really strained or not at all.
I'm an ok guitar player, I've been playing for about 4 years, self taught. I have a Fender Jazzmaster, and a Fender Telecoustic. I wouldn't mind having a bigger bodied acoustic, but the telecoustic works fine for my purposes. I use a Line 6 amp, Spider 112,it is awesome, has tons of effects built into the amp.
I started out with a Strat pack, a simple solid body blue strat and a little old amp.
