Get a Fender strat pack. It is usually a hundred dollars or less, you get a strat guitar, which looks like a stratocaster guitar, a decent amp, an extra set of strings, a tuner, some picks, a cord and a cable to plug in with. It is a great starter set, and if you don't continue on it isn't a huge investment.

I think the strat site is http://www.squire.com but if that is wrong just go to http://www.fender.com and use the links from there.
