The gadget exhibition scene was like something of a Bond movie. Granted, it was done to standard, but it's unnecessary. At least Tim Burton understood that what made Batman's gear so cool was the mystery of it: you didn't know if he was going to pull out a microphone to use the voice-activated commands on the Batmobile, a simple razor blade that extends from his gauntlets, or an explosive vile of acid hidden on his belt under his Cloak of Mystery. Without the surprise, it's just a matter for him to use his junk. D:
And are my ideas so terrible? Is a movie about a detective ninja solving crimes from the shadows as a hated and misunderstood vigilante while maintaining a prominent public life in the same society really less interesting than I think, just because it doesn't involve explosions and copious amounts of fictional technology? If so, tell me and I'll shut up.
Every sequel is based heavily on the previous movie, but most of them are acclaimed as being different and new. It's mostly just rhetoric to get more people into the theaters.
