Area A: Day Seven
#25
Nature had given up its pathetic attempt to wage war upon the entity solely known as the Black Virus. It was all over now. Not only had the fight begun with a demon bent on destroying the universe, but also a second one had appeared, calling himself the ?Dark Flame.? Within days, the world would be wrought with turmoil, and all hope would be lost. It seemed fate had shown no mercy in what was to occur to the denizens of the universe, both innocent and guilty alike. Burori managed to smile through the electrifying pain scattering across his body, one hand grasping the gaping wound in his chest. ?N-Now? Now we are unstoppable.? However, the very thing that could be considered impossible had happened. Through all of his planning and methodical ideas, his hindsight had failed to realize a single occurrence that would make his plans nothing short of being absolutely meaningless. With a flash, the Dark Flame crushed his fist into the demon?s jaw, exploding the very air itself with an aura of unconquerable power.

The Black Demon slowly climbed to his feet, ignoring the snow that still clung to his clothing. His right hand remained on his stomach, the blood from the gash having soaked his pants and creating a vivid hue of red upon the powdery earth of which they stood. The bleeding showed no sign of stopping. ?I don?t understand,? the demon stammered, having expected an expression of kinship from the Dark Flame. Instead, however, the creature had made it clear that he was no friend of Burori?s. Goku shook his head pityingly, his hands on his hips. ?I won?t be matched by anyone. I will be the one to destroy this universe; not anyone else.? Broli was taken aback, for a single moment almost forgetting the searing pain in his stomach. ?No? It can?t be?? No matter how much the Black Demon didn?t want to admit it, it was true. Upon infecting Goku, the virus had, unwillingly, mutated into some sort of new strain. And upon doing so, Broli lost all hope of domination. A new strain thought independently of the Black Virus, and it would have its own plans of destruction ? the Black Demon would be considered as simply ?in the way.?

Light shimmered for a mere moment in the voids of the Black Demon?s eyes, almost as if he had realized an explanation as to why his plans had failed so horribly. ?It?s you!? he shouted through gnashed teeth, his hatred for Goku boiling with each burst of blood within his body. ?The host? Goku? It caused you to mutate,? the words slipped off Broli?s tongue with such an expression of foolishness that it seemed he regretted not thinking of such a possibility before. He had assumed that anyone was a viable target for the Black Virus. And yet, not only was this proved wrong, but in such a situation that it was wrong, the virus would mutate and adapt to new circumstances. Thus, the Dark Flame had been born, a creature that would not allow the Black Demon to match it. It would be the best, no matter what it had to do to come out on top.

?So?? Goku tightened his fist, his mouth watering as he eyed the demon before him. It was as if he had developed an inescapable lust to destroy, and with such a target as the Black Demon, who could resist? ?Shall we finish this?? The question seemed to hit a nerve within Burori, awakening his depraved fighting spirit. He was the Black Demon ? he had to keep fighting, no matter what. It was his purpose. Attempting to stand tall, the Black Demon found himself yelping in pain, only to return to his hulking form, hand gripping his stomach even tighter than before. The Dark Flame could only smile mischievously, knowing that his opportunity to finish off his only worthy opponent was now at hand. He couldn?t resist such a chance to prove himself, just as the Black Demon himself had sought to prove himself. Raising his fist and sliding a single foot back, he prepared himself. Burori, in his weakened state, would be no match for him. The Saiya-Jin couldn?t even stand up straight, and so any hopes to actually fight back would be futile. Goku roared and dashed at the Saiya-Jin, energy swelling throughout the structure of his hand. As he brought it down, his knuckles broke through the air of tension, meeting tenacity head on. Broli appeared behind Goku, having used his teleporting skills once again. Goku, having expecting his opponent to be absent of any defense at all, winced as an icy hand found its way on his back. Enraged that he had allowed such a thing to happen, the Dark Flame began to turn, only to see out of the corner of his eye another hand, palm open, waiting for him. And with that, the snow beneath them melted in a heartbeat as a couplet of golden explosions shattered the sound barrier itself, nature howling in distress?

Burori awoke in a startle, a distorted world entangling him like roots of a tree vying for life. He opened his mouth to breathe, but found no air awaiting him, only darkness. It was a darkness that taunted and tormented, picking at the Saiya-Jin?s mind from every angle. However, some hope was available. It bravely revealed itself within the darkness, making no motion to move whichever way. It lay high above Broli, amidst the darkness. He reached with all of his might, knowing that this would be his only chance to escape the darkness. It began to consume him, laughing in his face as if the entire objective was futile. And yet, even so, contradiction was swift to appear. The light was getting closer, doing nothing less than encouraging the Saiya-Jin to reach farther, stronger. A shiver racked his spine, his stomach twisting as a glob formed in his throat. He couldn?t let the darkness consume him. And then, just as it seemed that all hope was lost, Broli pulled himself into the light with what remaining strength he could summon.

In a gasp of air, the Saiyan erupted from the dark waters, the brilliance of the light encroaching upon him doing nothing short of blinding him. The pain in his skull began to subside as oxygen circulated once more throughout his brain. He struggled to recover his breath, as if he had been like a dying flower that had just been sprinkled with water. His fingers clawed at anything nearby, and yet, his flails did nothing more than spatter water here and there. He had to escape. This couldn?t be where he was to die; he simply wouldn?t allow it. As he whirled his arm in one direction, the backside of his hand slapped across a hard surface. Frozen in surprise, the Saiya-Jin widened his eyes, attempting to quicken the process of adapting his eyes to the light. Grabbing the edge with both hands, he pulled himself out of the water?

He fell to his knees on the soft, grassy earth. The water still dribbled from his clothing, saturating the blades of grass. Looking up, he found himself staring at green meadows that seem to roll on and on as far as the eye could see. What was this place, he wondered? He strained to think of how he got here, closing his eyes and attempting to remember the past. Nothing came, almost as if Burori had no identity at all. What choice did he have but to find answers to the riddle that had made its way into his life? He had awoken to find himself in a foreign land with not a single sign of civilization anywhere in sight. Knowing there was no alternative, the Saiya-Jin began the trek across the plains, searching for anyone that could help him?

* * * * *

A rock, iced with Cold?s blight, became the support on which the Black Demon leaned on, his hand covering his wound once again. ?You know I can?t just let you win,? declared the demon through short breaths as he shook his head. Goku spat to one side, clearly angered by the attack laid upon him. His left eye remained shut, his side having received more apparent damage. He had underestimated the Black Demon, and in doing so, had allowed room for a counterattack. Even so, the damage had been done, but he wasn?t about to allow it to be the deciding factor in the battle. ?Stand and face me,? he ordered. The Black Demon ignored him for but a mere moment, attempting to regain the strength he had put into his previous attack. ?Face me, demon!? snarled the Dark Flame. Again, his commands were ignored.

With a flash of luminosity, the rock exploded, causing Burori to fall face-first into the snow. Goku followed up by swiftly pounding his foot into his opponent?s side, seeking to torment Broli as much as possible. He no longer cared about the pleasure of causing pain. The Black Demon had made him angry, and he planned to reconcile that through the complete obliteration of his only worthy challenger. His decision aside, it could only be described as sheer purpose in meaning that he had no choice but to destroy the Black Demon. The very genes of his creation called for him to be the one that would overcome any that stood in his way, and enacting such a feat would require destruction on a universal scale. Still, the creature had a mind of its own, for the most part. It sought to find closure in the demon before destroying it. Allowing Broli to climb to his knees (as painstaking as it seemed), the Dark Flame found a seat on a nearby rock.

?I?m surprised you were as oblivious as to what would occur should I be infected.? Goku glanced to one side, his words nonchalant. ?Don?t you understand?? A blank stare was returned by Broli, causing Goku to sigh and shake his head. ?When you were infected, the virus evolved and took its own path in you. You sought universal annihilation. Now, think about the one who infected you. How long had he been the Black Demon? A month? A year? You?ve already shaken this planet from its foundations in the mere days that your demonic dwelling has arisen. The one before you, though, did nothing to destroy Vegeta. Surely, it could have if it wanted to, right?? Taking no time to allow an answer, Goku continued with his explanation. ?You see, the Black Virus was designed to adapt and evolve so that a quick solution couldn?t be developed by the enemy to stop it. And now, we can look at what it?s become.? His hand motioned to himself. ?And so, it?s time for the strong to take their place. That?s simply how it?s supposed to be. The weak, however, must be crushed. These are the order of things?? Goku lifted himself from the rock, a certain firmness appearing in his face. Broli rose to his feet, ready to meet the Dark Flame. Goku stopped only feet from Broli, raising an open palm as he cocked his head to one side. ?The weak shall be abolished.?

* * * * *

Broli scratched his head; the plains seemed to roll on for miles. Was he really getting anywhere? It all seemed hopeless, almost as if he was doomed to wander these lands for eternity. For a moment here and there, he swore that he had traveled in a circle, only to think that a certain grassy knoll had not been seen before, leading him to pursue that path with much the same result. A single sun of a clear blue sky burnt down upon him, a cool wind balancing out nature?s heat. It was then, when his mind searched for solutions, that a sound caught his ear. He turned to face what was behind him.

Broli stood in a room. A dresser sat on one side, and a table with a set of chairs had been placed in the middle. Under him sat long, wooden planks, a single light bulb casting a reflection on the floor that Broli could almost see himself in. Somebody?s house? he pondered. The sound was heard again, causing Burori?s ears to flicker. He was immediately on his guard, attempting to determine the location of the sound and if any threat was applicable. Repetitively, it came, each time giving a more accurate location of its bearer. Broli slid his hand across the smooth, wooden table and dropped to his knees. A girl sat under it, her face buried in her hands. She was crying.

?Little girl??? spoke the Saiya-Jin, his voice soaked with sympathy. The girl continued to cry, almost ignorant to the presence of another creature. She was small, her body hidden under the blanket in which she had tightly clasped around her. Her petite, frail hands had slipped out from the blanket and now covered her face, in which her golden locks flowed freely around. ?Little girl?? Broli spoke softer this time, beginning to pull away the chairs guarding him from the girl. He began to reach out to touch her, to console her. After all, this could be the only contact he would find for quite some time. As his hand grew closer to her, her crying stopped abruptly, filling the air with a thick saturation of tension. Without bidding, she removed her hands. A gnarled face, horribly disfigured, screeched at Burori, causing the warrior to fall backwards. His back bumped into the nearby dresser, causing a vase to fall and shatter to the floor. His eyes involuntarily glanced to the vase, watching for a moment as the glass scrambled across the wooden planks.

As he looked back, he found himself standing in the darkness once again. This time, however, he found he could breathe easily. Even stranger, he could clearly see his body, almost as if a spotlight had been placed upon him. However, there was no spotlight, no ray of hope in which he could delve towards. Simply darkness existed. ?Welcome, Burori,? came a voice from the darkness. The Saiya-Jin immediately tensed, ready to repel an attack. A figure appeared from the obscurity, folding its arms as it smiled at the Saiya-Jin. ?But? How?? stuttered Broli, amazed as to what, or rather, who stood before him. Without any answers, something clicked within Burori. It was as if a switch had been within his mind, waiting for a specific moment in which it would be flipped and all questions would be answered. ?The Black Demon.? Broli whispered these words with solemnity, furrowing his brow in the obvious danger that had arrived. Even as he stood on guard, however, he couldn?t deny the awe in which he stood. The Black Demon, golden locks, pulsating muscular body, and all did nothing short than prove to be a reflection of what Broli felt he was yet to achieve. And with a mere taste of it, he licked his lips for more.

Ignoring this rising thirst, he motioned to the darkness around the two of them. ?Where am I?? he asked. The Black Demon smirked, holding up a single finger and pointing as his skull. ?In here. And this,? the demon observed their surroundings. ?This is what a demon?s mind looks like. Or rather, what your mind looks like. Been having fun?? Broli gritted his teeth, taking a step towards the demon. He felt that he had lost something to the demon, a part of himself, and he was going to do anything to get that back. ?What?s going on?? he roared, his volume serving to imply his anger. The Black Demon held up his hands, motioning for Broli to calm down. ?Relax, you aren?t dead? yet. You?re in your own mind, a mind that lies in a body in which I control. Remember?? Broli looked to one side, the glaze over his eyes revealing the remembrance of the past. The Black Demon continued, ?However, very soon, someone, a someone far more evil than I, is going to take that body from both of us. Someone is about to kill me, or rather, you. Or would it be the other way around?? The demon shrugged off his perplexion. ?Either way, we?ll both be gone. Now, I provide a proposition to you.? Broli refocused on the demon, willing to hear what the demon had to suggest.

?I?ve done all I can, and as much as I?d hate to admit it, I can?t defeat this character on my own. And with my weakness, you?ve awoken and now involuntarily serve to resist my infection. In short, your body is trying to give you back the power, and that?s something I simply can?t allow. But, since we?re both about to perish, you have a choice. You can either continue to resist me, and we?ll both die. Or, you could give yourself to me completely. Now, I know the alternative sounds rather foolish. However, if you die now, you?ll never have a chance to ever regain your body.? Broli didn?t like the sound of it. ?So you?re telling me to let you win?? he grunted. The Black Demon chirped with a smile, ?I?d think of it as more of a live today, fight tomorrow kind of thing. So, what?ll it be??

Burori thought for a moment. The Black Demon?s sole purpose was to destroy, and someone that was about to destroy the demon could be nothing short of absolute evil. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath as he focused. It seemed that, in the far distant, he could sense an enormous power surmounting for a final attack. It was time to act. He had allowed the Black Demon to take control before, and he would continue to allow it, for now. However, this time, he would deal with this new threat directly, whether or not the Black Demon planned to destroy the universe. Broli spread his legs to shoulder length and outstretched his arms. He bowed his head, closing his eyes as his breathing calmed.

A golden energy seemed to cling to his skin, as if fire was emerging from his pores. ?Touch my hand,? he whispered. The Black Demon nodded, positioning himself next to Broli and preparing his form in the same way. His right hand clasped with Broli?s left, Demon and Saiya-Jin uniting as one and their voices intertwining. ?Chou? Baku??

Goku raised an eyebrow, his palm still raised. The Black Demon had closed his eyes, and now stood with appendages spread, whispering words that were inaudible to the Dark Flame?s ears.

?Retsu?? Broli and the Black Demon?s voices grew louder, their energy swelling about them in the form of quivering earth and crackling electricity.

Goku hesitated for a moment, unsure of what was occurring. Suddenly, the Black Demon?s eyes burst open, Goku?s breathing coming to a quickening halt. ?No?? he whispered. And then, all was let loose as Broli and the Black Demon bellowed at the top of their lungs the final word, sealing the technique into an awesome display of power. ?HA!!!!!? A golden dome of energy erupted from the Black Demon?s chest, engulfing the Dark Flame and the frozen tundra of Area A. Even over the deafening explosions of energy that chained across the environment as the dome grew, the demon?s roar could still be heard?

OOC: Yeah, and THAT would be my longest RP. Great fight Goku; probably the best I?ve ever been in. You really challenged me by some awesome roleplaying. Oh, and if you win, you can just have yourself easily smiting the attack or something, whatever. I just thought it?d be a cool end my RP. Either way, I enjoyed RPing with you. *bow* =)

Judge please? Oh, and I think Goku and I would like more than one person to look at it, if staff wouldn't mind. I just think the fight as a whole is a little big for just the opinion of one person. Maybe not though, whatever you guys think. =)
