I personally feel its about both. Geometry due to all the angles involved (we did a "build a putt putt golf course and play it" project in Geometry, rocked hardcore.) but also physics, as some of the hole require you to take advantage of the curves in the hills in order to one shot them. In other words, you have to know the perfect amount of force required to get it to move straight, hit the hill, and then the hill will curve the ball down towards the hole around the obstacle (that angling wouldn't have hit). Combine both, and you shall ascend to a master putter.
