And So It Begins... (POST HERE FIRST)
#14
The annoying trill of the school bell went off in all directions. It was an automatic signal, students shot up from their seat even when their teacher was caught in the middle of an important message. Screw them, it was time to go, they could only hold them for so long. The moment that alarm went off they were free to do what they pleased. Many students filtered toward the back of the school, it was obvious as to why. The smell of smoke was heavy there, even though they stood in the frigid November cold, the sneaky tendrils of smoke still slipped in through the large metal doors they stood in front of. Of course the non-smokers complained many times, saying ?Second hand smoke is going to kill is!? and trying to get petitions signed to crack down on student smoking areas. Sure it was a bad habit, and maybe it was bad for the non-smokers, but this was their territory and no one was going to take it away.

Most of the kids doing it were either cool or trying to be cool. It?s the common click clich?, every High school had one. There were the punks, Goths, preps, jocks, geeks, ?cool? people, and yes there was always that wandering group of ?ordinary? people. They were the ones who had no group, or no place. It was a vicious world, if you had no friends or no group to fit into, you either joined the other ordinary students or try to fit into a group. Cool people had a nose for posers, it was in their nature. Sometimes they?d even take in a poser, like some kind of pet. It was kind of disgusting.

?Five more minuets until break is over, I don?t want to be late again.? her friend stabbed her cigarette against the cold cement wall. Its hot ash became obliterated and the lipstick stained butt fell to the icy ground.

?You know, I don?t think you get it yet, do you?? she said and began to apply new lipstick. ?You gotta chill out, so what if you?re late, it won?t kill you.? she wasn?t even looking at her; her big pretty eyes were caught staring into the small mirror she carried in her purse.

?If it doesn?t this will?? Terra tossed the half used cigarette onto the ground. A small part of her knew that it was wrong, but she didn?t want to go back to her old self. So many days she had watched these people and their smoking, wished she could stand and laugh with them. It had only been a few weeks ago when her friend, Raven, had come to her and taken her in like a lost child. Why? She still didn?t know. This was her last year in High school; she wanted to graduate as someone that was cool, not someone who was a loser. ?I?ll see you tomorrow, Rave, I have stuff to do tonight.? she made to open the large metal door.

?You aren?t still going to that-that thing are you?? she cocked her head and gave her a disapproving look.

?I?ve been planning to go since before I met you, it may not be cool, but I?m not going to change plans because I joined this group.? she was ready to defend her case, put up her dukes, but Raven just laughed.

?Just don?t mention it to Robby, he likes you, and I think if you told him he?d change his mind about you being Girlfriend material.? she shook her head, but a smug smile was on her lips.

?Whatever.? Terra, distraught, went into the building. Not even her long sleeved shirt and jeans could keep her warm long enough. Maybe Raven was right, but this was something she wanted to do, even if it was kind of geeky. Maybe she should have gone to the geek group?Nah.

The whole day was as dull as every other day. The last bell sounded and like robots the teenagers leapt from their seats and rushed to leave their daytime prison. Terra always hated the end of the day; the bus was always packed and made her nauseous. Reluctantly she entered the stinky vehicle and rode it al the way home, home being about fifteen minuets away, and there was no seat in sight. Her feet hurt by the time she made it to her stop. Why couldn?t life be like in Television, or movies? Life was a drag.

?Is that you Terra?? the sound of her mothers voice came from above the front stairs. Terra rolled her eyes and shrugged her pack off; it hit the ground with a dull thud. ?Don?t leave your pack down there again; I almost broke my neck yesterday when I was going downstairs.? grudgingly she took off her shoes and bent over to pick up the heavy bag. She trudged up the stairs and followed the scent of food toward the kitchen. Ah, it was nice to come home to a good meal, she had skipped lunch.

Immediately Terra retreated to her room and tossed her bag onto her bed. She plopped down into her computer chair and jabbed her fingers onto the keyboard. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the silhouette of her mother at the door.

?You use that thing too much, I swear you?re going to get carpel tunnel or something.? complain, complain. ?You?re still going to that thing today?? Terra nodded in response, her eyes were glued to her computer screen. ?Well you can change after supper?you know it?d be nice if you actually looked at me when I?m talking.? she set her hands on her hips.

?Mom I?m busy, I have to check on stuff in my game, I want to get all my stuff done before I have to go. You?re distracting me.? not even glancing away, Terra picked up her controller. Her mother sighed and left, hoping it was just a ?stage?.

?No, no way, you are not going like that Terra.? her mother shook her head as she looked at her daughters outfit.

?Mom! Come on, it?s an Anime Convention, the first one to even come to this city. I bought this weeks ago, I?m wearing it and you can?t stop me.? with her fists tight at her sides the angry teen stood her ground.

?Then you can find your own ride, because I won?t let any daughter of mine go out looking like a whore.? that struck a nerve.

?Fuck you! Oh my God I hate you; you never let me do things my way. I?m 18 now and you still treat me like I?m a baby!? her body shook, it was so unfair. ?I wish I wasn?t here, I wish I could live in my games and Anime, it?d be better than being your whore of a daughter.? her mother was speechless, but that didn?t matter. Terra whirled around and stormed into her room. She slammed her door, locked it, and then proceeded to beat the shit out of it.

She had only just turned 18, but that didn?t matter, how could she do that to her? She wasn?t a whore, and she didn?t look like one. Everyone would be dressed in consumes and outfits like this one. She didn?t understand, she was too old to understand.

Terra sat down at her computer and began angrily typing a message to her friends on one of the many forums she was a part of. Fuck her, that stupid bitch, she wouldn?t get her way. So many times she had wished to be a part of her games and anime shows, real life was too hard, she couldn?t take it anymore. She had gone through her depressive stage, she had done the suicide act, and nothing seemed to matter. She was older now; the thought of killing herself was less prominent, but the thought of running away was high on her list.

Grabbing a backpack she began to stuff in some important things. As she filling her bag she grumbled under her breath, F bombs fell in every direction. When the sight was clear she snuck out of her room and snuck some money from her Mom?s purse, and she also grabbed some chips and canned soda. They probably wouldn?t even notice she had left, they probably wouldn?t care. As she tiptoed back to her room she paused in front of her door, her ears picked up the sound of crying. Munchies still in hand she moved a little closer to the living room, she could hear her mother crying and talking. Was she on the phone?

?I don?t know what to do anymore, ever since her father died she?s been so hostile?I love her so much, but maybe it would be best if I took your suggestion?? there was a pause. ?Well, it would be better for her, I think she?s started smoking too?I?m always missing one or two from my pack.? another pause. Terra?s fingers tightened on one of the soda cans. ?Yeah, I know that, but it?s worth the money, she might learn something.? Terra took a half step back. ?St. Mary?s boarding school, is it? I?ll need the number. You?re sure it?s helped your daughter? I remember little Lisa used to be such a sweet girl?it?d be nice to see how well that school has done for her.? that was all she needed to hear. One of the soda cans slipped from her grip and fell to the floor. ?What was that?? Shit. She picked up the can and dashed to her room.

Her Mom called her name but she was oblivious. She stuffed the money and food into her pack and put it onto her back. She had never known what had happened to Lisa, they had been friends. Sure she had been a little?whacky, but she was just another teenager. Screw that, she would not go to a boarding school; she won?t let her Mom ruin her life. Terra felt her heart racing, there was a knocking at her door, and the room seemed to be spinning around. She was panicking, not good. Her eyes caught the computer screen and things seemed to slow down around her. When had she booted up her game?

The screen was alight with a beautiful winter landscape. Soft snow fell down onto the white ground, and the sky was dark and filled with stars. She was awed; it was an area she did not recognize. She leaned closer to the screen, it looked so lifelike. Where had this game come from? At the bottom she could see small text scrolling upward. What did it say? She moved closer, closer, it was still too small. With trembling fingers she reached toward her monitor, and to her surprise the tips of her fingers went right through. She tried to pull her hand out but it would not budge. ?What the fuck?!? she cried, she felt a pulling on her hand, she was being sucked in. ?What kind of game is this!?? she grew hysteric and tried to pull away but it was no good. Soon she was fully consumed by the computer, and she did cry for help, but it was too late. The world swam around her; she seemed to fall for a long time until she fainted from the shock.

Her eyes fluttered for a moment. The darkness became less, but her head hurt like she had been hit with a rock. Where was she? What the hell had happened? Terra widened her eyes and stared up at the sky. It was night time, but she was beginning to see the signs of dawn farther along. Had she already gone outside? She remembered her plan to run away, but this didn?t feel right. She sat up and set one hand against her brow. The cold snow beneath her was making her uncomfortable. She felt dazed and disorientated, but that didn?t stop her from realizing there was something in her lap. She looked down at it, it took a few moments to sink in. She screamed and stood up causing the strange thing to fall into the snow, along with a device Terra had never seen before.

It opened its eyes and gave one of the cutest yawns the teen had ever seen. It looked up at her, like a baby kitten, but she would not let down her guard. ?What the hell are you??

?Terra! You were warm, why did you drop me?? it said, its large eyes began to fill with tears. A storm was about to brew and Terra didn?t feel like hearing the cries of a baby. She knelt down, purely instinct; it did look like a baby didn?t it?

?Don?t cry, I didn?t mean to offend you, but I have no idea what you are or why I?m here.? she stayed away from it, but was now on its level.

?I am your partner, friend, companion, buddy-

?Yeah, I get it.? it now looked happy and cute.

?I am Snowbotamon, I?ve been waiting for you.? it was sickeningly cute, it?s voice was high pitched and sugary. Terra lifted a hand and moved it toward the creature; with her index finger she poked its white furry body. It was real, and alive, and kind of soft. It was only the size of her hand, but good lord it was cute. Terra picked up the device beside the creature. It was white and blue and resembled some kind of mini gameboy. She glanced down at the little thing; it had moved closer and was nuzzling her knee. Was it cold?

?Where am I Snowbotamon?? she asked and scooped up her new friend.

?This is the Digital World, I am your Digimon.? it smiled up at her with its cute face.

?How did I get here? What if I want to go back? Why were you waiting for me?? so many questions, and all of them it could not answer.

?All I know is I was meant to wait for you, and I knew who you were, and now you are here, so now I will protect you, you are my friend.? it spoke fast and with no pauses, perhaps it was a baby.

Terra groaned, this had to be a dream. ?Where am I in this ?Digital World???

?This is File Island! Isn?t it great?? it giggled sweetly.

?Oh yeah, a real hot spot.? Terra sarcastically replied. ?I don?t think I?m in Kansas anymore Todo.? it looked at her questioningly. ?Nevermind.? Terra sighed; this was going to be a long day.

OOC: Snow region of File Island. Sorry it?s long, I got carried away. Time for work!
