Day One: Early Morning

Bardock stumbled forward, a mixture of dizziness and nausea overtaking him. Teleporting was something he had only done a couple of times before, but he still hadn?t gotten used to it. The first thing he did was to take in his surroundings. It was still dark out, around midnight of the starting day. Bar gathered up his energy to lift himself upwards to get a better view. The balls of his heels lifted up in anticipation of gravity defiance, but instead of feeling air underneath his feet, all he felt was a warm buzzing around his neck. Slightly confused, he tried again, with little success. The collar ringing his throat was most insistent.

Damnit?this fucking thing is canceling out my ability to fly, he cursed. To be without flight was nothing but a detriment. Suddenly, he felt that something was missing. Not only could he not fly, but the pulse and flow of the energy around him was gone! His Ki Sense ability had been deactivated. Bardock kicked himself for being so dependent on it, and not taking into consideration that maybe they would throw a curve or two at him. These people really wanted to see a show: nothing but roughin? it. Bardock?s scouter was already affixed to his face, and he activated it, having no other way to detect bodies of energy. As last time, it was a basic model with no upgrades and no prior memory stored. The saiyan grimaced and flopped down, removing the army duffel from his shoulder and rummaging through its contents.

Bread?s a bad choice for provisions?it?ll go stale before long, the former soldier observed. Water?s water, but I?ll need to conserve it in case it?s required for a use other that hydration.

He looked around, making a mental note of where he?d landed. The map and compass were pulled out next. Lighting his hands with flame was too dangerous and would attract attention. Fortunately, even basic models of scouters were programmed with small flashlights. The screen emitted a green glow that illuminated the piece of parchment.

?Scan,? the fighter ordered. Upon recognition of the verbal command, the facial device spurted forth twin rays, which transformed the image of the map into a digital copy stored within the banks of the machine. With it, Bardock could better keep track of everything. He marked off his present location, scanning the map and looking for a suitable place to relocate, if at all. He quickly rationalized the possibilities of movement, suitable locations, potential danger zones, and the odds of running into another fighter. It was too early for him to be very successful at evading any competition, and he wasn?t familiar with nearly everyone here. His best bet was to find Raditzu and Android Eighteen. At present, it was too dark for his liking to move about. The saiyan?s current location was also abundant with helpful resources. He would seize the opportunity to forage before leaving it behind. As he trekked his way across the open fields, he couldn?t help but let his trademark smirk cross his face.
