?Son of a bitch.? gasped Android Thirteen as he placed his palm against a tree.
The energy that he had expended had drained him quite a bit more than normal. His legs wobbled with every step, making him feel as though they were made of jell-o. Cursing as he pushed off the barky trunk and stood underneath the cover of the leaves, the droid saw that he wasn?t the only one out of breath. Wondering if perhaps they had overdone the attack, Thirteen didn?t care, that was one more contestant out of the way.
"Hey guys, what's that?" Trunks asked, closing in on some shiny object left in the vanquish ash of the once Goku.
"Dunno," Thirteen contributed. "Looks like a gun of some sort."
The answer had come out quickly and in between breaths, sounding almost heartless. Trying his best to hold his tone and give more to the conversation, nothing but a dull squeak escaped his lips. Shaking his head, he gave up and decided to just rest, perhaps a bottle of water was called for.
"Hey, does anyone mind if I use this?" Trunks asked his alliance. Thirteen could hear him continue, but it sounded all mumbled together.
Looking up into the sky, the droid realized that it really was past morning, not that he though that Karl Jak was a liar, it was just difficult to believe that the time had passed by so quickly. Sure enough, as Thirteen listened into the wilderness, he heard no crickets and no hoots from owls, instead it was perky with songs from the birds. There was a warmer breeze now that the sun was out and it only added to the droid?s fatigue.
Suddenly, small streams of energy came screaming through the air, striking the tree directly next to Thirteen. With wide open eyes, and barely any control over his bladder, he jumped hard left as splinters from the tree exploded outwards.
?Holy mother of God!? cried the freaked out android. ?Watch where you shoot that thing!?
Trunks sniggered and rose his hand in an apology as he lowered the weapon, an apology was shouted to the droid, but the nerves deafened Thirteen?s ears. Shaking his head as he tore a bottle out of his bag and down the rest of the contents, the droid tried his best to suppress the shaking in his hands.
?Meh.? thought Thirteen as he emptied the bottle into his mouth and tossed the empty container back into the sack. ?Fricken Sayajins.?
Suddenly, a small green bag just off to the left caught the droids eyes. Giving it a few seconds to register, Thirteen realized that it was Goku?s bag, the one they are all handed at the beginning of the games. Struggling to his feet and making his way over to the pouch, the droid got down on his knees and ripped open the bag, finding more water and bread, exactly what he was hoping for. Removing the contents and placing them gingerly into his own, the machine-hybrid felt a warm sensation run over him. He felt proud of himself for thinking of the rummage and decided that he wasn?t as dumb as he had thought, though he wondered it maybe it was more survival than actually intelligence.
?Well,? announced Thirteen, standing up and moving behind a tree. ?I have to pee.?
?Thanks for the over share,? came Hellfighter?s voice, he too was panting, though there was a hint of playfullness in his voice. ?Ass.?
Garlic Jr. tried to laugh, but it came out more as a winded giggle than anything else. It seemed as if this rather strange alignment of contestants had a bond, how strong it truly held was still unknown, but they all knew that there were trials ahead that would make or break them, the only thing they could do was trust one another, for now.
