A hundred days have made me older
Since the last time that I saw your pretty face
A thousand lies have made me colder
And I don't think I can look at this the same
++
The miles just keep rollin'
As the people leave their way to say hello
I've heard this life is overrated
But I hope that it gets better as we go.
I'm here without you baby
But you're still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time
Every muscle in her body was tense as the footsteps crunched closer. His voice carried through the trees, deep and controlled, and yet, the yellowed edges of fear tainted the bassy rumble. Super Buu had come after her, and it was one of the worst things that could have happened, for her at least. The point of running off was to be alone, and yet, that numbskull was trying to track her like an overgrown hound dog.
?VIOLET! It?s me, Buu!? There was a brief silence, he had stopped. ?The cooler one!?
She tried to ignore him, hoping if she kept quiet, the majin wouldn?t find where she was too busy trying to cover her exposed soul. Snorting back the remnants of her pitiful tears, Violet eased to her feet quietly, trying to utilize every bit of stealth she had learned back in Red Ribbon to glide further into the forest.
His footsteps came closer. There was a cliff behind the small stand of bushes straight ahead dropped down a good few hundred feet, and she found out too quickly that she couldn?t fly; she couldn?t go much further without running out of ground. The collar wrapped around her neck prevented many of the abilities she had previously taken for granted, and Vi realized she was trapped. ?Please ? don?t come after me;? she pleaded into the foliage. Even to her ears, it sounded weak, but it was the best she could manage without her voice betraying her, and leading on to further worry from her clan mate.
Still, he pressed on.
?Violet!? She saw the flash of pink through a break in the trees, and knew it was only moments before the jig was up. Violet did the only thing she could do, no matter how stupid and pointless it was, she ran towards that cliff. If she couldn?t drown in her own sorrows, she would end it all for good, and never have to see that damned android or worry about Red Ribbon jumping out to kill her again. ?Slow down!?
The rocky abyss drew closer?closer, until she could see the expanse of the island spill before her, the sunlight etching shadows across its grassy terrain. Suddenly, a hand clenched around her arm, pulling her to stuttering halt.
?Let go of me!? She shrilled, twisting in his grip, and in one swift motion, his arm popped away from his body, and she made a mad dash to get away, but it was moot. His other hand shot out, catching her arm once again, in a firmer, more solid hold.
?Slow the ? fuck down ?? he panted, and reached for his missing arm, molding it back to the blank socket of which it had been torn from. ?What?s the matter with you people??
One glance, one small peek at his face and she knew that the majin had actually been worried?about her. For once, she found it surprising, but she remained stalwart, turning her head away from him in defiance. A point had to be made; when she wanted to be alone, then, dammit, that was the way she fucking wanted it.
?Listen,? he began, his breath finally leveling back to normal, ?I?m not an expert on human emotion. I never really knew Piccolo ? or whatever his name is now. But I can tell you?re upset, otherwise you wouldn?t be running off into the forest like this. What I?m saying is ?? he paused, and she could feel his awkwardness. It was a different side of Buu she wasn?t acquainted with. ?Maybe it would be better if you ? talked about it??
Several heartbeats later, and she finally gave in to the heavy silence. Her face turned to his, the rubbery hand still wrapped around her leather bound arm. Here goes the white flag? ?I have never known you to be compassionate, Buu;? She began, voice low, tight.
?If you would rather I just drag you back to camp??
?No! No?Buu?? She sighed. ?I just have a lot of problems that are happening way too close together for me to handle all at once. I didn?t expect to bring up that asshole so soon, but?I didn?t see much choice in the matter. For all we know, he could be out there on this island...waiting.?
His grip eased some, and the monster straightened to his full height, towering feet above the woman. Damned tall people?she grumbled to herself. Having to gaze up into his face, that flat, noseless visage she had memorized every night since he first disappeared months ago, she was brought fully aware of how close she was to him. Her feet didn?t shuffle, nor did she do any of that nervous twitching that smitten little girls like herself did in the presence of someone like him. Violet was just?Violet. Quiet, cold? unfeeling.
?Start talking before I change my mind, fleshbag.? He snapped, patience beginning to wear thin with his human ally. Glancing just beyond her shoulder, he finally noticed the cliff, and the connection wasn?t too much even for him. She had intentions with that cliff, and the sight of seeing her broken body splattered over the rocks didn?t bring him the warm, delicious feelings it should have. He could be a bastard sometimes, but everything he did, no matter how random it was, had purpose. Knowing Violet, what little he did know, it just didn?t seem right that she would just go chuck herself over the edge of some freaking rock. She was more than that.
?Thirteen.? The word was simple, and yet, it held every ounce of emotion that she could possibly push into it without dredging into yet another of her emo fests.
