It had all happened so fast.
The android had been so busy lamenting and cursing the recent revelations about his former brother that he hadn?t heard the first sounds of the battle. He had been too busy grieving and whining that he?d left the majority of his friends alone to contend with the monster that was the long-haired saiya-jin from Friend or Foe 2. The worst part was that Seventeen had been so completely out of it that he?d detracted Violet from the field. If he hadn?t indirectly forced her away, then maybe she would have been able to help more. Maybe then so many of the machine-hybrid?s friends wouldn?t have met gruesome deaths. When he heard the first few shots, the android snapped to his senses long enough to allow Violet to tote him onto the scene. From there, he watched as a group of five started their systematic butchering of his allies. Jackie was the first?his head gracefully torn asunder by Raditzu?s weapon.
That was the moment when Violet and Seventeen realized that they couldn?t let their own emotions cloud what had to be done. The two released their own angers and frustrations, auras dancing up around the duo as their power levels skyrocketed toward their apexes. As the blue flames that had sprung around the android died, Violet?s curvaceous figure was lost as a grotesque, demonic apparition took its place. However, the two were unable to contend with the gun wielding powerhouse, and from elsewhere, Seventeen heard the explosion of metal?Sixteen?s life functions had ceased. The android let out a defiant scream, but it was far too late. Just a second later, another gun erupted, and the cyborg felt the searing heat tear into his abdomen. As the raven-haired fighter crumbled, he could hear more people dying all around him. Yet his body was starting to fail on him?warning signs from his CPU kept popping up on his internal display as he struggled to fight the unconsciousness that vied to consume him.
It wasn?t until he saw Violet in danger that his adrenal levels surged enough for him to stand. The rush continued until he managed to tackle the hulking abomination that was vying to end her life. Unfortunately, with a single motion, the seemingly inhuman creature chucked the android effortlessly. The cyborg rendezvoused with the ground painfully, and when he tried to return to a vertical position, he heard the rasping voice of Kid Buu utter something. Seventeen turned his head, but before he could emit a response, the pain caught up to him and everything faded to darkness. The android let out a sigh as the last vestiges of the battlefield were snuffed out by the overwhelming, unstoppable agony.
For what seemed like an eternity, the android?s mind drifted in the darkness?teetering on the line between life and death. During that time the cyborg escaped the conscious enough that he was sure he saw some kind of foul, fallen angel pluck him from the ground in order to drag him off to Hell. Regrettably, the gods didn?t favor the machine-hybrid enough to let the suffering end this soon, and with a painful crash, Seventeen landed once again upon the cruel, unforgiving ground. As the android started to regain his senses, he could see Violet and Super Buu standing above him, milling around and acting all panicky as they tried to rationalize what had just transpired. The woman turned the android onto his back, and then the taller Majin joined her, glancing over his fallen brother before noticing something different about himself. None of it really registered with the android, who was clenching his teeth in an effort to ignore the overwhelming anguish.
Seventeen felt his purple-haired sister-in-arms prod at his wound as she herself tried to figure out what to do. The machine-hybrid himself stabbed at the laceration, both his mind and body screamed in agony, but despite his best attempts, he couldn?t accumulate the strength to even utter a word or sit up. Even with all of his cybernetic implements and the superhuman strength they provided, in the end, Seventeen was still human. After a fit of verbal sparring, the two members of Civil Unrest who had emerged from the battlefront unscathed went to work. Soon enough, Violet had managed to apply a mash of leaves over the android?s horrid wound. By that time, it became apparent to the fallen warrior that Kid Buu had also survived the battle. The smaller golem had lost his left leg, but he seemed to be coping with the damage better than the android. Screaming in pain, Seventeen rolled onto his side, closing his eyes to the world in some effort to ignore the insanity of the situation.
?We need to get moving,? the words that escaped Super Buu?s maw were the first that the machine-hybrid had been able to coherently understand it what seemed like a lifetime. Despite purposely whispering the words to Violet, the android had managed to hear them beneath his fit of lamentations. Seventeen rolled onto his side, both of his hands clutching at the organic bandage applied to his wound. He felt like such a fool?he had entered this competition solely for the thrill and the high he would get from all the action. Everything had gone horribly wrong. Now the android had three less friends and was sporting what would become a lovely scar if he even survived long enough to attain proper medical care. Both Leo and Paige had been correct, and Seventeen had done nothing but playfully discard their words. Not only was he wounded, but he was also a complete fuck-up.
?Kid Buu, can you move?? The words came from Violet?s mouth as she moved to assist the magical creature into a standing position.
?Yes, and I don?t need your help!? The pink warrior rolled. ?I can handle myself,? he added as two additional arms sprouted from his body. With the added digits, the resilient little beast managed to stand up, and then began walking around?clumsily at first, but soon he seemed content with himself. Seventeen shuddered as another wave of crippling pain cascaded down his body. As another scream escaped his bloodied lips, he felt two arms slide beneath his body. Violet slung the battered man over her shoulders, and with Super Buu to her left and Kid Buu to her right, started to walk. Despite losing a few friends and suffering some rather agonizing wounds, the remnants of Civil Unrest had managed to pool together. After all, they were survivors?no one could question that anymore. However, they were still in Dante?s Abyss, and the sun of the Day Two was yet to rise?
