Trunks' hand firmly grasped Goten's. He looked up into his eyes. The instant connection, the unspoken friendship that endured years and distance alike consumed him. To the Chibi half of him, it was nothing new, but something still very much treasured. To his Future segment, it was something weird and unusual, seeing as Goten didn't exist in his timeline, but welcomed it just as readily. The amalgamation's thoughts were a mixture. He loved the bond they shared, but it was a sensation he rarely experienced, as Trunks Unified held few friends. It was so hard to comprehend, let alone explain. Maybe one day, he would tell Goten who he really became.
They released their grip, walking side by side in silence, but in much better stead than before. Trunks could see the potential of this group. If he had the opportunity to choose the warriors who he would fight beside in this foresaken tournament, this random assortment of fighters would've been the last combination he ever thought would be successful. Perhaps something good did come out of something so violent and morally devoid. He looked around at each unique member of the group.
Kami, the elder Namekian and current guardian of Earth, had shown tremendous compassion and loyalty to Trunks for no discernable reason, which the halfling found hard to accept. Now that they had spent time together, traveled and battled next to the seasoned warrior, he had a great appreciation for his character. His unprovoked kindness to strangers was something Trunks desired to see more of in other people, and his most admirable quality. Despite his overwhelming power he kept like a dormant volcano, it hadn't affected who he was.
Seventeen, the raven haired android and recently discovered father, reminded Trunks of himself in many ways. He tended to keep to himself, speaking only when he deemed it necessary, and always fortifying the wall most people hit when trying to learn about him. For one reason or another, Trunks could see straight through his defense and witness the true soul of the android. He was a caring person, and threw caution to the wind once he learned of his daughter's existance, chasing the abductors relentlessly. Trunks wanted the android to recognise his goal so badly, he himself would die to give him even a chance to do so. Although he joined Seventeen under selfish pretenses, he was not going to leave until Seventeen's selflessness for his daughter was fulfilled.
Goten, a warrior part of his own creed, was a joy to be around. He brought out the easy, relaxed persona of Trunks. Sharing a history spanning further than Trunks dared to recall, they played together as children, and still to this day, were united. Not only so, but they shared the same affinity for battle, and the same craving for it. It would take death to separate them, Trunks mused.
Android 13... well, Android 13...
"Hmm," Trunks murmured to himself. He realised he barely knew anything about the silver haired android of the alliance. All he truly acquired about him was that he was an efficient fighter. The same went for the pint sized Garlic Junior. Perhaps Trunks should be a reflector of Kami's friendliess. By getting to know them, Trunks could experience a similar relationship he held with the other three.
"Talk to you later," Trunks winked to Goten, who smirked back. The fused halfling broke his stride and readjusted his pace to match Thirteen's. A small amount of broken circuitry was evident from the injury he sustained during battle, but it hardly seemed to phase the android.
Trunks shoved his hands into the pockets in his jacket. "So, how's it going?" he asked in his most casual voice, hoping to strike a conversation with him.
