Hercule, I can understand your argument, but the simple fact is, Douglas Adams wouldn't care worth the length of time Ford Prefect is sober (which is a very small number indeed, no matter what time increment you measure it by). The BBC episodes are nothing at all like the book, which is, in turn, not exactly like the movie we've seen, which, in turn, is not at all like the computer game Mr. Adams wrote for Infocom. The point is, Mr. Adams was behind all of these ventures, and they've all got more contradictions than a perpetual motion machine has joules.
