The next portion of time seemed to last a while. Reijin had to be very careful with his next movements, as he intended to win this game. He was not going to lose. He'd been training himself whenever they sent him out on scouting missions, learning to hone specific abilities even more, something that he had previously not understood how it worked. An ability that noone in the group had even known he had.
Trunks was off to the side of the sparsely wooded area, watching the mountain intently. He could see a few moving blurs in the distance, but his eyes could not distinguish exactly as to who it was. He seemed to be slightly unnerved by something that he'd heard, but he hadn't spoken to anyone about it.
Vejita slowly walked out of the woods, catching Trunks's attention. The lavendar haired Saiyan smiled, nodding at him. "Father... I am ready for this. I think that when we team up, we can take out as many of them as possible." His voice trailed off as Vejita slowly shook his head, looking unhappy with something.
"No..." he whispered. "You aren't ready for this. If I have anyone at my side, it won't be you." The words slammed through Trunks like a semi.
His eyes widened. "Ok... May I ask why?"
The King suddenly snapped. "That is exactly why! You are too weak to be a true Prince. Bra died yesterday, proving that the better half of my children was still a disgrace, and you stand before me as the still living proof. I can't deal with that. You hide from Reijin as if he is some huge concern to you, when he is a much stronger warrior then you will ever be."
Trunks seemed caught off guard a bit. He'd encountered his father's wrath before, but never quite like this. "Father, I don't..."
Vejita spat into his face, forcing Trunks to shy away, but then tighten up angrily in a refusal to show any weakness. "You are too afraid to do what needs to be done. Too trusting. When we get there, you won't attack me. You won't raise a finger. You'll go hellbent after Reijin, as usual, because as far as your heritage is concerned, to Hell with the Saiyan race as long as you attain your vengeance. You are blind to anything other than what YOU want."
Trunks looked to the ground, angered but unable to think of a response. His eyes boiled with blood, and his fists clenched. "I will not fail you, father. I will do what needs to be done once we reach that mountain." His fists trembled at his anger.
The Saiyan lord shook his head and then laughed. "Why do I waste my time. You won't win this. I'll kill you myself when the time comes," he spoke with determination. He leaned into Trunks's face and then growled at him. "Get out of my face."
The younger Prince could think of nothing to say, and gave him a glare, trying to decide what to do. It seemed that part of him wished to attack his father then and there, while the other part was trying to decide how to please him. He finally simply turned, and walked away.
