When it really comes down to it, Sel, you're developing yourself as a writer and honing a personal skill that you value. Not only in the actual practice of writing, but also as casting yourself into a character that you're catalouging the adventures of and, to one degree or another, care about. Additionally, analyzing the writings of other and how they do something in a different way than you would have is one of the best ways to improve your own skills and abilities. No one can look down upon the time and effort you're putting into the perfection of a skill, such as you have done or are doing.
