That's how it was supposed to be, Kibbs. The main purpose of melee is to build up your energy, or whateverthefuck, which then allows you to pull off the big energy attacks. It would work if it wasn't way easier just to charge your energy. But then, when you're doing that your opponent can do the same, so it is a little better to own your foe in melee.
