For the third time in his life, Bardock found himself on the planet Dante. He glanced up, looking where his halo was supposed to be. It faded from sight, but it didn?t matter, because he was still dead. Nobody else had to know that, though. Nobody else was even going to know who he was.
The saiya-jin knew the drill by now. Everyone was required to go up to the counter, sign up, show some flashy moves, take a few pictures, and was sent along their merry way. The check-in station on Dante was rather empty, as most people signed up on other planets and teleported to the main planet, versus signing up on the main planet.
?Name,? the tired attendant asked, lacking any real enthusiasm.
He began to say his true name, but stopped. He hadn?t even thought of a pseudonym yet. The quickest phrase to flash in his mind was one of the last things King Kai said to him: ?A shadow of your former self.?
?Shadow,? he blurted out. He immediately did a mental headshake. Yeah, ?cuz that doesn?t sound gay at all.
But, too late.
Without even questioning the odd name Bardock had given, the attendant typed it in and immediately began filling out the electronic form.
?Demonstrate your ability to fight please,? he continued, bored. Typing a few commands, he adjusted a camera to record the display.
Bardock raised an arm and effortlessly blasted a hole in the wall, and returned the appendage underneath the folds of his cloak. The move itself was very clich?, but it got the job done.
?Aren?t you quirky?? the employee said flatly. He quickly produced a thick folder. ?Rules and regulations. Please read over them carefully. Welcome to Dante?s Abyss: Conquest.?
Bardock resisted the urge to slap some life into the boy. Instead, he glanced around and saw a sign directing people to the VIP Lounge. As he was walking towards it, he suddenly found himself being teleported.
