I'd have to disagree. None of the characters were really amazing. I never got a feel for who Locke was, never got an appreciation for Terra's loneliness in a different world, never cared about Relm, or Gau, or any of those characters. I mean, yeah. It's because of the capabilities of the systems then. We get super sweet cutscenes nowadays, with great graphics, and opportunities to show the emotions on the faces. This adds the opportunity for new kinds of subtleties in the dialogue, without risking misunderstanding.
But yeah. That's my reasoning for FFX. Yet, since some are considering offering a conflicting argument to be the spawn of Satan, I'll save myself here by saying that this is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own.
