The unit settled down in the open field, under the blissful of the night sky. The sky brought tranquility to Gokua; that?s why he stopped. The stars gleamed beautifully in the sky, and it was truly a sight to behold. Besides, the unit deserved a small rest, for the day was filled of hectic confusion, so the Liutenant felt as if the pit-stop was well-earned.

?First day of the war since my retiring from the military,? the turquoise alien muttered as he looked up at the sky.

His hand slowly slithered into his pocket, dragging out a bottle of Gray Goose; that good vodka. Bringing the bottle to his mouth, he allowed the liquid to enter.

?Ahh?good shit,? he said as he turned his head slightly to look at the unit settle down. His nostrils then flared up once more, similar to the way they did in the barracks; the stench of a fellow alcoholic it was, and he craved to know who it was. ?Who is that?? he asked himself as he slowly made his feet move forward into the crowd of men.

With each step, the smell became stronger, and then as he peered through the crowd he saw the carrier of the stench. He appeared to be an ordinary man, but his elf like ears drew the ex-soldier away from that conclusion. His red Mohawk swayed in the slight breeze that the night presented.

?There?s my culprit,? he said as he slowly walked towards the caucasian-skinned man, who was not far away, just a few feet. ?You,? he shouted as he slowly neared.

Tapion?s head turned ever so faintly as he heard the orange-haired man?s voice call out to him. ?Yes?? he slurred in a frenzied intoxicated tone, curious to know why the Lieutenant called for him. ?What do you need??

?I smell the stench of liquor on you,? Gokua replied as he took another sip of his vodka.

?Well, you drink too.? Tapion remarked. ?So what?s the problem with it??

?Nothing,? he replied. ?I just thought I?d make that apparent,? he continued, taking yet another sip. ?Well, I see that you have a sword as well.? He pointed to the blade strapped on the red-haired alien?s back. ?How convenient.? He placed his hand on the handle of his sword. ?We seem to carry similar tastes in weapons and both have a fondness for alcohol.?

?Strange, ain?t it?? Tapion replied as his eyes locked onto the bottle firmly gripped within Gokua?s hand. ?What?re you drinking on there, fellow alcoholic??

?Just some vodka,? he replied, ?Gray Goose, to be precise.? He looked at the fellow drunk?s empty hands. ?Want a sip?? He extended out the bottle towards him.

Tapion quirked a brow. ?I don?t usually drink that type of stuff,? he responded, ?But?sure, I can?t refuse a free sip!? he noted as he took the bottle of vodka and quickly took a few gulps.

?Enjoy, if you want you can have the rest.? Gokua said as he pulled a cigarette out and placed it between his lips. ?I don?t really need it at the moment.? His words were muffled by the lack of lip movement, for he had to keep the cancer-stick between them.

He slowly pulled a lighter out of his seemingly endless pocket and brought it up to the end of the cigarette. Scraping his thumb against the ignition wheel, the flame quickly flared up, but not wildly. The tip of the cigarette cooked under the heat of the fire. Gokua slipped the lighter back into his pocket and slowly sucked the smoke from the cigarette through the filter?s end, and allowed it into his lungs, pulling the cancer-stick away and blowing the smoke out afterwards.

?That shit kills, you know.? Tapion said as he took another sip of the Gray Goose. ?Not like alcohol is any better.?

?I want to live long enough for this damn thing to kill me.? Gokua replied, smoking. ?Besides, I don?t intend to live very long anyway.?
