"Well are you going to report or what? I don't have all fuckin' day over here. Wars to win and all that. You know how it is." The messenger scout was a tweedy man, and seemed to have trouble standing still. His weight moved back and forth, from foot to foot, a muscle twitched in his eye, his features were very angular, his hair auburn, his nose rather protruding, and of course he had a large shit eating grin. Garlic had ample time to notice all of this... because the man would not talk. Nappa gave him a gentle nudge in the ribs.
"Oh! Oh! I-Its you. Naples. I was told to inform you on behalf of G-General Hiro that we have made quite the discovery." Before any reply could be given Garlic grabbed onto Nappa and scampered up his arm. From his new perch onto of the giant of a man Garlic found himself better inclined to bend down and get very close to this messengers face. When he spoke it was a sickly sweet voice, pulsating with he absence of the anger that was obviously cursing through him.
"Say, he wouldn't happened to have mentioned... I dunno... a man by the name of Garlic Junior, eh?" Tweedy's eyes glazed for a moment in thought and then he grinned.
"Oh yes. Yes he did." Garlic let the silence run between them. He waited for the man to pick up on the fact of who he was, and why he was asking. Obviously that wasn't happening. All he got was a blank smile. Garlic?s lips curled and he was inches, centimeters, away from ripping that big nose off his face. Instead the demon reached a shaking hand into his cloak and pulled out a bag of licorice.
"See what he wants Nappa." Then he proceeded to stuff his face with the candy.
A village it turned out to be. An important find indeed, but hardly worth the suspense or aggravation.
?Take me over to the command tent Nappa.? The burly man complied.
Inside he pulled up a chair and used it to look over the map of their island, a god eyeing his promised lands from the heavens.
?Hiro says the village is here.? He jabbed a stick of licorice at the coordinate. ?Luckily that?s right were we were going all along.? Lt. Nappa and the various corporals he had assembled nodded. ?But our approach is going to be different. You understand. I don?t want us swarming over the place like some imperial locusts. Best to let the peasants think they joined us willingly. I couple of messengers and maybe a few soldiers will go ahead and set up a nice cordial talk. We let them know that it?s in their best interest t join the United faction. Meanwhile I want a column your support units Nappa,? he stuck that stick of licorice in his mouth like a cigar and nodded to the big man respectfully, ?I want your largest guys with their biggest guns shouldered doing drills within eyeshot. This?ll make it clear what we offer and what will happen if they refuse. At least what they think will happen, which is enough. This is all talk now though,? he sighed. ?We won?t reach them till tomorrow at the earliest. Dismissed.? Garlic let them exit the tent before plopping down into his chair and biting down on his stick. He really couldn?t wait for a good fight.
