A figure walked into the mass of soldiers, her figure never pausing, the people around her in constant motion; lamb before the slaughter. Many laid strewn out on the ground, others trampling all over the place in search of something to do; to prepare. Others ate, drank, and had a merry time. Even fewer were in the shadows, thinking deep thoughts; in empathy with their surroundings and beliefs.
Struggling through the crowd the youth came to a stop in front of the food, quietly grabbing a delicate peach from the grotesque amount of food littered around the ground and on the table, sighing as she took a juicy bite. Men around her stared, eyeing her suspiciously, a few with lust in their eyes. She didn?t like a single one of them, all of them vile brutes to her; capable of cutting their parents throats with no hesitation, if they were paid a few Zeni. She let none of this on to them however; the only expression she pressed upon them glee; the blissful appearance of her youth rising to overtake the darkness of their spirit, blinding and soothing, filling the holes of their heart with a feeling of radiance.
?I?m not much for words, boys, but this is one nifty peach.? She spoke, before taking another large mouthful of the peach. Juice dribbling down her chin the soldiers stopped, staring at her in a awkward silence, as if not ready to see their superior acting in such a way. No longer eating her peach Akane looked around, watching them all in slight surprise, although her gaze suddenly broke when she noticed that several of the men had broad grins on their faces; the gesture very nice, despite the several holes in their teeth. One of the men stepped forward, a bottle of a beverage in his hands. Bowing low he offered to the bottle to her, and as to not be impolite she accepted it appreciatively.
Not mouthing the fact that she didn?t drink alcoholic beverages, she thanked him appreciatively as the men around her cheered. Deeply touched by this appreciation she smiled to them all, and calling out to them she opened her arms, tears welling up in her eyes.
?Group hug!?
She called out, the large group of men surging forward to meet in a embrace. The entire appearance of it would have been a funny sight indeed, hundreds of dark looking fighters; with hearts as black as oil, all hugging this golden girl in a warm embrace. After what seemed like minutes of a group hug they separated, allowing the young officer to leave the circle. Stepping out several paces she turned back towards the large crowd, setting her present on the ground so she could use her right hand. Rubbing her left shoulder slightly she winced, but quickly smiled at them all again, letting them feel the warmth of her love overwhelm them again.
?Say it with me!?
?This world revolves around..? They stood looking at her silently, before rising to a chant, their feet basically leaving the ground as all stood to acknowledge what she was saying. Rising in a chorus the hundreds of voices were unified; one whole body speaking. ?This world revolves around!?
?Love! And peace!? Turning around to not face the crowd she made a peace sign in front of her, getting down in one knee as a smile lit up her face.
?Love! And peace!? The chorus chanted in empathy; making a peace sign in the direction that Akane was standing, although not at her, but rather into the darkness beyond; the bowls of the night. Their superior turned around as they made the peace sign, her eyes lightning up with glee. Waving goodbye to them she skipped away to her sleeping area, taking the present with her as she did so. In return the soldiers returned to what they were doing; a smile on their faces.
(I'm actually happy with how this turned out. ^_^)
