Out numbered. Out matched.
Retane stood in Fate's Tower looking over the side, down at the feild. The reinforcements of Dante closed in on the battle. It was quite evident to the mercenary that they were in a rough spot and as it progressed, it could only get worst. A slight turn of the head got the attention of small unit behind him. He motioned for them to come forward. Among the group was Bradley, the black serpentiod, the Goat-jin and the bright colored mutant from the barracks.
"Mamba", the mercenary called to the serpent as he pointed down into the crowd of the Dantes finest, "See the cyan haired one? See that she's killed." "Pigme", the goat was next for orders."Have your snipers to aim for the elites if they can."
"On it", the horned beast said as he turned and headed for the stairs.
"Burst, see if you can create a few fires in the patches of wood." A nod from the bright mutant was all the renegade got as he too was gone. The mercenary showed little interest in their enthusiasm as he turned to face his second in command. "Let me know if anything else important happens."
"I will." Of course he would. He didnt know how to do anything but obey. Retane moved around his commander but stopped at his side, "The chances of Syntech Corp winning this battle", questioned the namek
"Eighteen percent."
The mercenary moved to the portal and headed down the stairs, making not even the slightest thud. The mercenary looked down as he went, not at the steps, but at his side. His slender hand reached to his side and opened the container on his pouch. The contents was none other then the infamous Deck of Cards. Flipping the lid as he went, Retane palmed the deck into his hands.
The mercenary flipped the top card to reveal none other then the nine of hearts. The death card. The card held a special interest to the assassin as it was the very card that helped him betray an ally, only to turn around and be the same card that had killed him on Dante. The mercenary placed the card in the middle of the deck and shuffled them. He haulted as he came to the base floor and slid the deck back in it's box. Continuing, the mercenary headed for the exit, back onto the field of battle.
The air whipped him in his face. A low growl escaped his lungs as a snear crepted upon his visage. Eighteen percenart chance of winning this battle. The mercenary fingered the deck before he replaced it.at his side. The sounds of cries and gunshots kept the night air active, but the assassin seemed to ppay little attention. He had drowned them out, concentrating on other things. He wasn't leaving this field, until it was clear of his enemies. Numbers only meant more blood and more challenge.
The mercenary looked on under his cowl, pulling it lower over his eyes. His foes didn't deserve to see the face or their executioner. The emerald fingers tensed in excitement as the assassin moved ready to yank the life forces out of as many as he could. If he fell, it wouldn't matter. After all, it was only a game. A game he was playing to the end.
