Just giving my opinion, but I think you're just not ready for commitment. It happens at the end of a serious relationship and can last for a while afterwards - days, months, even years. In your case, a girl hurt you pretty badly. You want to move on and commit yourself to another relationship. That's perfectly natural but the heart can make you do crazy things. You may want to do one thing but do another. See what I'm saying? In your mind you know you want to commit to another but your heart just isn't ready for that to happen just yet whether it be out of fear or whether it's still trying to get over the previous relationship.

So basically my advice to you is not to push it. Just go about your life and not worry yourself about commitment and enjoy being single. Go party, get immersed in a hobby, go out with the guys, or whatever it is that floats your boat. Just don't put so much importance on having someone else around to make you happy or just because it's happening all around you. (trust me, I know what it's like.) Only you can make yourself happy. Having another person to share that happiness with is just a bonus. A serious relationship will happen not only when it wants to happen, but when you're emotionally and mentally ready for it to happen as well. Hope I've helped you out some.
