Customs
#94
I'm playing around with a few different character concepts for my custom. Here's one of them:

---------------------------------

Name: ?Nez?
Age: 24
Race: Human (Caucasian)
Height: 6?2??
Weight: 170 lbs
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blonde
Fighting Style: Self-styled Brawling
Alliance: Fighting Dreamers!

Appearance

If there is one thing this self-proclaimed freedom fighter takes pride in, it?s his appearance -- not in a vain, self-centered way, but rather an obsessive, dominating compulsion. Clear skin, trimmed finger nails, brushed hair, and freshly ironed clothes are all a must before Nez can start the day. Most find this kind of compulsion a bit odd for someone who so often finds himself in a scrap, but Nez merely brushes it aside.

Nez has long locks of golden hair that he often ties in a low ponytail: not only is this practical for getting into a fight, but Nez thinks it looks really cool, too. Most remarkably of Nez?s facial features are his piercing blue eyes (?brimming with the fires of freedom? Nez would say) and sparkling white teeth. More often than not ? and quite contradictory to Nez?s obsession with the rest of his appearance ? a light stubble adorns Nez?s chin; this stubble, however, is often quite hard to see since his blonde hair blends into his white skin.

Very evidently, Nez is Caucasian. His skin tone is not what people would describe as tan, but neither is it pasty. His well defined muscles comprise most of his body weight, but he does not come off as particularly bulky. Though his attire appears average and unassuming, Nez picks clothing that both reflects his care-free attitude as well and lends itself to dramatic poses.

Personality

There is no one personality trait that describes Nez. His seemingly random amalgamation of personality quirks and flaws are what truly define him. At the forefront of this cornucopia of idiosyncrasies is without a doubt his disturbing seriousness. Its not so much that he is overly serious, but rather that he is serious about everything. Nez would just as readily suggest sawing a woman in half to amuse onlookers as he would going to get a bite to eat. The strangest feat seems perfectly normal while seemingly mundane acts seem pointless and unnecessary.

Though the above may seem like a distinguishing enough feature, it is merely a prelude to the fierce sense of justice that Nez seems to embody. He will fight tooth and nail to preserve his freedom and the freedom of anyone else. Though often times that means performing acts that would disturb most, Nez performs them readily. The human has landed himself in some interesting predicaments as a result of his constant freedom fighting.

Serving out his self-proclaimed justice and filled with an unrivaled righteousness, Nez can?t help but cast upon anyone, within earshot, a deluge of judgments and proclamations ? often from a very dramatic pose. No true freedom fighter can take their work seriously if they?re not willing to do it with a little pizzazz; though most people would simply say Nez looks like something of an idiot.

Underneath the fighting and the posing and idiosyncrasies, Nez is actually quite intelligent. His capacity for insight and understanding is far beyond most people?s expectations. Though many of his exploits may seem foolish and ill-conceived, Nez spends a good deal of his time sorting out the philosophical underpinnings of what he does. More than simply striving to bring people the freedom that they deserve, Nez takes the time to understand how people are being oppressed before taking action.

Background

Through much of his life, Nez would describe himself as ?misunderstood.? Often he was cast into the same group as the ?troublemakers? and ?bullies? around him, though he acted out for noble and just causes (according to him). He saw this typecasting as a test for himself and set to overcome any adversity that was set before him in his pursuit of freedom. As a child, this meant overcoming the rule of his parents, finding ways around the authority of his teachers, and beating back the bullies that would come after him. As a teenager this usually meant skipping class and looking for other people who were oppressed as he was. His blunt and unbecoming methods, however, quickly got him in trouble. When he was labeled a ?gang leader? in high school, a group of teachers found reasons for his expulsion.

Though expulsion was merely another adversity to overcome. The freedom to attend school was not something Nez was going to have stripped from him. After escaping the charges set against him, Nez learned that he must conduct himself in a slightly more acceptable manner. In his early college years, Nez rallied many people to his cause of freedom fighting, but most of his colleagues ended up being worthless hippies who were content to sit around and bitch. There came a time (namely when whispers of Nez being a terrorist started spreading) when Nez needed to move on and find people truly willing to take action for the betterment of mankind.

With nothing more than the clothes on his back and whatever he made by pawning his parent?s valuables (a donation made in the name of his honorable pursuit) Nez left home and struck out to find ways to make an honest difference in the lives of those around him. This was a rather hardening experience for the man, as he had never had to truly work for anything in his life before this point. His natural intellect and penchant for understanding had seen him through his academic career, his linguistic dexterity had allowed him to talk his way around most verbal confrontations, and his physical strength and fortitude had allowed him to forcefully break down many barriers, but he had no clue how to function as a working part of society. He later came to realize that he had taken what he had provided with for granted. Most would call such an outlook as simply being spoiled, but Nez maintains that he was so busy looking at the big picture that he didn?t have time to bother with the little details.

When he left home, Nez cast aside the name he had been given at birth. No one actually knows what his real name is and those who have gotten to know the human wonder whether or not he even remembers. He prefers to simply be addressed as ?Nez? or ?leader? depending on the circumstances. Leader, Nez tells those under him, is for when he is on an official ?Fighting Dreamers? mission. Fighting Dreamers is the moniker Nez adopted for his ?gang? and it is a name he has always carried with him. Even when there is only one member, the Fighting Dreamers live on. As long as Nez draws breath he will be the leader of the Fighting Dreamers and everything they stand for.

Fighting Style

Nez has never had any formal teaching as a martial artist, nor has he ever sought any out. Neither is he aware of the ki that flows through his body; the ki that grants him his otherwise superhuman strength and endurance is a mystery to him. When asked about his abilities, Nez simply tells those around him that it is the power of his convictions being given physical form. That generally stops people from asking any more questions.

Many times Nez has found himself confronted with a foe he can not talk around or avoid and has had to rely on brute force to see his goals achieved. These bouts have forced him to create a crude set of techniques that he fights with. Though many have called his style unorthodox, it is only so because they are trying to look at it as something it is not: a martial art. For the most part, it is simply Nez trying to find the best way to punch his opponent. His aptitude for this self-styled brawling, though, has led him to consider training under a real master many times. If there ever comes a time where his own inborn abilities are not enough for him to carry on his tasks, Nez will probably look for ways to further those abilities.
