Will there be power level gains to be had in fights? Like in the anime, withstanding a fight with a superior opponent raised your power level substantially. I know this isn't the show, but it's a good system.

Any posts made during a fight will garner XP, which can then be used to increase your powerlevel if you want. Additionally, we're considering letting people spend XP to learn an ability in the middle of a fight. I don't remember the details of that specific conversation, though, so don't take that as gospel.

I was thinking something like you get a power level gain equal to a percentage of your opponents power level. That would add another layer to the balance system, as going after a newb would be a waste of time, and fighting someone either close to you power level or superior to you would yield better results. Giving out XP to let them use as they want wouldn't work the same because someone could roleplay a fighter and invest in stats contrary to what a fighter would have. If they only care about fighting, then naturally, their characters would grow to only be able to fight. Other stuff too, but I can't really formulate the words right now.

Hope I'm not being annoying. I just read Vegeta explain this in the manga a few eeks ago and thought it would be cool.

While I like the idea, there has to be some kind of limit to it. People would constantly be fighting the strongest person to become strong, fast. I don't see how I would get anything for me fighting Rad or Rei, for example. They could flick their finger and take off my head. Why would that give me some kind of increase in power? =\

That's the point. Newbs wouldn't fuck with vets and vets wouldn't fuck with newbs. The best thing to do would be to stick close to your power level. Unless you want a challenge, which would make you ultra kickass and not lame. =o

EDIT: Why would people constantly go after the strongest people? To get their ass blown off? D=
Nvm, I missed that part >_< lol.
