Day One: Afternoon
#44
The Namekian entered the next building down the line and struck gold. While tearing apart the room which appeared to be the kitchen/dining room, Cargo stumbled upon a variety of canned food. The jackpot consisted mainly fruit, vegetables, and SPAM. Why the inhabitants of the dwelling left it there, he would never know. He was just glad it was there. The young fighter threw the canned into his standard-issue DA knapsack and continued scavenging through the abode.

When the rummager had completed his mission, he grabbed a fork, walked over to a table located in the dining room, sat down, opened up some canned peaches and began to extinguish his nagging hunger. As the juicy fruit slid down the kid?s throat, he, once again, got lost in his own thoughts.

Cargo suddenly found himself outside of the building and standing in a jungle-like setting. He walked forward into a clearing in the center of the area only to stop abruptly at a horrifying sight. A dark and ominous figure stood on the opposite side of the opening, shrouded in darkness. He stood roughly the same height as Cargo and about the same build. The moon hung directly above the two men, illuminating only the eyeline of the stranger. His vibrant red irises caused thoughts of bloodshed and death to infiltrate the kid?s mind, setting up a scene that Cargo didn?t like: A fight against an unknown opponent who scared him.

?Who are you?? the Namekian child inquired, however, the mysterious individual remained silent and emotionless. Cargo got a bad vibe from this man; something evil emanated from him. The two brawlers looked each other up and down, waiting for the perfect opportunity to present itself. Cargo's vest flowed in the wind as he hastily tried to calculate the best method of attack; he didn't want his opponent to get the upper hand early. He knew he was in for a fight. The youngling ran through numerous battle plans before finally settling on one.

?It?s now or never? he said internally. No sooner did Cargo think this than he launched off of the ground straight at the mystery man. Faking a kick to the body, he quickly spun around in the air and threw a punch directly at the face of his rival. Cargo saw his enemy?s crimson eyes disappear into the darkness.

?You?ve got to be faster than that, kiddo.? Cargo?s foe whispered mockingly into his ear. Infuriated, the green warrior swung his forearm around carelessly allowing his opponent to take advantage. Grabbing his arm, the malicious fighter twisted and yanked it upwards causing Cargo?s shoulder joint to explode with pain. As he tried to free himself, he came to a stunning realization. He was like anyone he had ever seen before. He wasn?t normal.

?This guy is tough. He?s just as strong, if not stronger, than I am. Who is he?? Cargo muttered under his breath, as he was trying to figure a way out of this hold. Cleverly, he used his other arm to thrust numerous elbows into the midsection of his foe. The man?s grip weakened and the green-skinned child yanked his arm free.

?Heh.? Cargo sniggered, excited that he had escaped his foe?s vice-like grip. ?I'm stronger than you thought, eh?? His rival just blinked once again as he licked the blood off of his arm. His eyes fixed upon the Namekian, hate coursing through his veins. Then, from out of nowhere, the veiled brawler unleashed a bloodcurdling scream that could have been heard by someone on the opposte side of the world. If Cargo couldn?t feel the venom that man bore him, it was certainly clear now. His hatred permeated the entire area they fought in. The villain?s form was still clouded by the night, and curiosity was now an additional distraction for the child.

Both fighters charged at each and with Cargo throwing the first punch. His opponent easily parried this blow. Both warriors began throwing lightning-fast attacks, initiating a flurry of kicks, punches, and knees. Both were trying to accomplish the laborious task of landing a hit on the other. With a resourceful feint, Cargo landed what he thought was a crushing kick to the neck, alas, the defender didn?t budge. The green fighter?s confidence plummeted as, without warning, the mystery man drove his fist directly into Cargo?s midsection. All of the air in the kid?s lungs was forcibly ejected from him. The pain caused him to bend over at the waist, trying to recover the wind he lost, but his enemy was too quick for that. He launched himself into the air and finished the combination attack with a jumping knee to Cargo?s mug, knocking him backwards towards the ground.

"You can't win, you puny Namekian. Just give up." the stronger of the two fighters uttered in a dark, demented tone that you would except from the devil. He stepped forward to finish his downed foe off. A slim ray from the silvery moon shone down, clearing the darkness that surrounded him.

?It can?t be . . .?

The prongs of the fork clanged against the tin bottom of the can. The peaches had been gone for 5 minutes.

?Is that what I can become . . . with hate?? Cargo immediately got up out of his chair and headed towards the door.
