For such a small hole the ki left, Garlic felt like a walking wound. His tiny legs half stumbled along through the unkempt grass of the cemetery, taking him... where? Away from death he hoped.
?A bone yard. How appropriate.? He thought his chuckle sounded weak, bereft of its usual flippancy. Lacking in in what made him Garlic Junior. He was sweating now, and his legs were aching. Damn tall grass and damn rain bringing in its humidity. He was used to hovering everywhere, not forcing his way through a foot of damp vegetation. But he couldn't stop. His eyes kept darting at shadows, ears twitching at the local vermin scuttling by. His nose... there was that damnable smell again. Ozone with a sweet twinge. Something shuffled behind him... something big. He fled; each footstep invoked a new curse as he darted for safety. Garlic's breath came deep as he pressed his back against a 10 foot stone monolith. He pressed his cheek against it, edging for the smallest bit of eyesight around the corner. He welcomed the cold of the steel plate, almost as much as the relief when he found the courage to look all the way around.
?Mrrow.? A cat shuffled out from the bushy weeds, staring at Garlic and speaking in a very matter-of-fact mewl. ?Mow. Mrrrow.? A cat. He jumped at a cat. The thing just stared at him with its big eyes, shimmering slightly in the gloom.
?What?? The goblin spread his hands to emphasize what he was saying to the animal, ?I don't have any food for you, go eat a rat or something.? The grey and black tabby began rubbing itself against his leg.
?Shoo, beggar. Go get a job.? He gave the thing a nudge with his shoe. A mrow later he was back to rubbing.
?You were the noise, huh?? Garlic turned toward his bag. Maybe the thing liked mango. ?My nerves are shot to hell. I-? A jolt of terror shot through him. Bardock stood there tall, leveling his gun at him ready to shoot. ?Holy shit...? But the shot never came. The terror passed and so did the image of Bardock. In its place stood the statue he hid behind. It was a life sized Saiyan, tail and all, on top of a block pointing a gun at what Garlic assumed was its likenesses' own grave. That gun was odd, almost like a musket era pistol. The Goblin looked at the guy's name plate, still steamed up from when he pressed his sweaty face to it, and wiped it clear.
?Letis 'Black Powder' Gregi, third annual Dante's Abyss Champion.? Garlic looked at the tabby and grinned. ?This guy looks a lot like that fagot who shot me. Hair's a little shorter though.?
?Mew,? the cat replied. Garlic stared at the stone man for a while, then drew in a deep breath and sighed. A drip of sweat fell of his noes to join the earlier day's rain.
?I think its time for an offensive. This isn't me. Cat... well,? the goblin glanced at the looming Saiyan statue and looked back at his feline stalker with a glint in his eye, ?Letis. Lets go and kill someone.?
