OOC: Direct follow-up to my last post
?When?s Paige due?? Super Buu interjected randomly?effectively preventing the android from launching the second phase of what could have easily swelled into a full-on tangent.
?A few days?? Seventeen responded, sighing as he reclined backwards onto the lush, dewy grass of the prominence. Up above the head of the raven-haired warrior, the stars were slowly fading as the night sky gave way to dawn. ?Fatherhood scares the hell out of me.? He added after a slight pause.
?Scared of what will happen to you?? Super Buu asked, lying down next to his old friend.
?No,? Seventeen replied, sighing as he became lost in the sea of fading stars.
?Then what?s got your panties in such a bunch?? The magical construct snorted.
?I?m scared of what will happen to my kid,? the android uttered, a frown spreading across his beleaguered countenance. ?People like you and I don?t really lead the nine-to-five lifestyle. Hell, our lives thus far have been built on murder, betrayal, and more murder. I want a better life for my son or daughter, and I honestly tried to put my old life behind me, Buu.?
?Yea, the Q-Wave Channel has been out of order for months now?? Super Buu muttered, staring in tandem with his old friend at the panorama of fading stars.
?But if this contest has taught me anything,? Seventeen said, vaulting off the ground and glancing over his shoulder down at his comrade. ?It?s that I?m addicted to this shit. I can?t get enough of the fighting, murdering, and genocide, Buu. I?I love what I am and what I do for a ?living?,? the android paused to stretch out his hands and tilt his head toward the heavens. ?Do you assholes out there hear that? I fucking love myself, and I love brutality and bloodshed!?
?What are you on?? Super Buu chortled, sitting up and turning his gaze up to his erratic, former leader. The puttalin-born golem arched his eyes?obviously confused by how haphazard the android?s attitude had become. At the beginning of the conversation, he had been morose and forlorn, but now, he was on the verge of kicking over a Monopoly table and punting a baby. Out of all the people he had encountered, the magical construct had never imagined the characteristically levelheaded Seventeen to lose his marbles.
?Life?? Seventeen replied, lowering his hands as he took in a short succession of deep, heavy breaths. The magical construct snorted at the blatant clich?, but the android ignored the guffaws of his bubble-gum colored ally. In reality, the machine-hybrid really had no idea how to explain the development in his mind. Whether Seventeen was filled with confidence or insanity was beyond his ability to perceive at this point. All he knew was that he felt powerful and capable?a feeling that was usually a rare thing for him to encounter.
A year ago, he would have been hiding in a ditch somewhere contemplating what to do with his life; however, this contest had helped him break through the barriers that had been erected for the last two years. This Dante?s Abyss had helped Seventeen to stand on his own two feet, and come hell and high water, he was never going to sit down?ever again.
