Day Five: Early Morning

Since the android had arrived on the island, four days had come and gone. Within that timeframe, Seventeen had managed to go through a bevy of spontaneous partnerships and mood swings. Even worse than that, he had accumulated his fair share of debilitating injuries as well. Despite the achy condition of his body and his eroding semblance of reality, the android advanced down the path with a smile on his face, a song in his heart, and jovial briskness in each of his steps.

Behind the cybernetic warrior, his girlfriend walked quickly in order to compensate for the unintentionally hasty gallivanting of her boyfriend. As she trudged over the dewy grass, Paige turned his eyes to the violet sky and smirk faintly at nothing in particular. Ahead of her, Seventeen came to a dramatic pause and quickly pivoted to face his redheaded soul mate.

The machine-hybrid wore a nervous expression on his face as he began to scan the surrounding forests. Before the woman had a chance to inquire as to the nature of the android?s sheepish behavior, the machine-hybrid lifted up the spud cannon and placed it on his shoulder. With a flick of his nimble fingers, Seventeen slid the weapons scope over his eyes and readied the trigger. Paige, who realized she was standing directly in the weapon?s sights, began to glance around nervously.

?Duck,? Seventeen muttered, his expression cold and heartless as his right index finger danced lightly across the gun?s trigger. Still unable to see the threat at hand, Paige arched an eyebrow as beads of sweat began to form upon her brow.

?There?s nothing in the area at??

?I said fucking duck!? The android screamed, spit shooting from his mouth as he barked the order at the woman. Without another moment of hesitation, Paige let out a squeak and dropped to her knees. As she fell out of the android?s scope, Seventeen let out a shout and depressed the trigger.

Time began to slow down as a steam poured out through the back of the potato gun. Each and every incoherent syllable of the machine-hybrid?s battle cry was accentuated and dragged out as the spud erupted forth from the barrel of the cannon in slow motion. A few yards away, the cyborg?s target gasped?his muscles moving at a crawl as he attempted to avoid the vegetable projectile.

Unfortunately for the target, time caught up just before he had a chance to escape from the potato?s path of terror. With a sickening thud, the spud connected with his forehead and exploded?flinging potato flesh and innards about as the dazed warrior stumbled backwards.

?What the hell was that all about?? Paige groaned, pushing off the ground and spinning around to see what had triggering the android to tweak out. When she saw absolutely nothing but the empty pathway, the woman clenched her slender fingers into two tight fists and began to hyperventilate as her face turned a dazzling shade of crimson. Ignoring Paige?s blatant frustration, Seventeen strode right on past her?plucking the ki pistol from her belt as he advanced toward his goal.

?If you don?t want to help, then don?t get out of the way, pwease,? the android replied, holding the ki pistol at his waist as he glared over at the former bio-android. ?Vapor?? Seventeen uttered, taking a moment to spit after speaking his rival?s name. ?Haven?t I killed you at least four times already??
