In response to Krillin:
It seems like "act like it isn't happening" = if everyone knew/ knows it is happening, activity tanks.
So, it's like we either need to act:
1) like it isn't happening because it isn't (at least not any time within a year or so)
2) like it isn't happening because if we acted like it was activity would all but die (like it did when this was originally announced)
My fear is that staff is saying "act like it isn't happening" because, of course, they don't want us to act like it is. Because if we do, they know activity will tank (like it did when the original announcement was made). "Act" like it isn't happening, doesn't put me at ease, it makes me feel as though we're doing just that, "acting."
Either it is happening or it isn't. There doesn't need to be any ambiguous "act like it isn't going to happen" statements, or "we aren't really concerned about it at this point in time."
It seems from Waff's statements, that any potential turnover is way off in the distance (as in over a year away) and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. It isn't like I'm going "ZOMG, what did you say about deh turnoverzzzz!!!1!!???" It's more like, "Hey, those of us who aren't staff have never really gotten a definitive answer regarding a turnover and this comment said by X person perked my curiosity, could you clarify?"
If there was one, finite, unified answer from all of staff (without minor contradictions here and there from various staffers/ 'in the know' people) then I could understand your mockery of the general confusion. But what you need to remember is that some of us 'less cool' peeps don't have the privilege of knowing where staff stands on things because we don't have access to the staff forums (for obviously justifiable reasons) and the above things I mentioned skew our total comprehension.
So when you give partial, ambiguous, contradictory answers, the result is partial, ambiguous, contradictory knowledge.
