Also this is ironic since I think I may have just instructed my friend to buy an Asus motherboard. I could be wrong, it may have been Intel, I forget.

Regardless, that blows a good hard one man. I'd say get a cheap temporary or find somebody else with a spare and keep fighting the bastards.
