While I'm sure Bojack made that statement to be humorous, it actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. Masturbating releases endorphins, which might've helped the guy calm down a bit. I'unno.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I'd have lost my mind if that was me in there. I'm a really big person, and I get uncomfortable REAL quick if I don't have any space to move around in. So yeah, in such a small space I probably would be hard-pressed to retain my sanity for so long.

The guy wanted to be a model employee when he was found, calm and collected. That's why he didn't smoke the cigarettes he had in his pocket either (I know both probably would have helped him calm down, but neither would look good). I guess he also knew he might be on security tape.
