Oh of course. I love me some Janna autoattack. But there is definitely a difference between helping get the kill and accidentally last hitting and watching a carry 1v1 somebody and running over to killsteal as a support. Which is what happened to me during a ranked game. Lewhat?

I have to say... if it is a complete 1v1, then by all means, KILL STEAL! I'm serious. If it's a complete 1v1 there is no assist gold given. Wasted gold for your team. If someone else is assisting or has already assisted, then don't KS, but if it's a 1v1 then I WANT someone to kill steal (or at least get a hit) me so the team overall gets more gold. Do everything in your power to make sure you get that assist if no one else is going to get an assist on the kill. If you KS, whatever. The other person still gets 60% of the gold for a kill.

So to recap, DO EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU AT THE LEAST GET AN ASSIST ON A KILL IF NO ONE ELSE IS! If you don't you are wasting gold for your team.

Also, if someone does this and KS's you, read the above, it's better overall for the team.

Start playing some of the zany hybrids that LoL has. That's one of my favorite things about the game.

Aren't great at as a straight "mage" because you like to get in people's faces? Swain, Gragas, and Maokai would all like to say hi.

Like casting but don't like having a worthless autoattack? Pantheon and Skarner might fit the bill.

The reason there are a ton of "worthless" champions is because of meta-game optimization in the high-elo play. Cassiopea is actually a great example of this. She can outlane just about anyone in the game, can push as well as Morde or Sivir, does tons of AoE damage, and has a fairly sizable CC-ult. Why do people not play her? Annie and Brand do most of that with a lower skill requirement. Does that make Cass a bad champion? No. It makes her a less efficient champion. Two very different things.

Wukong and Xin Zhao are another great example. Just looking at his numbers, Wukong is just a weaker Xin Zhao. Xin, though, can't knock up an entire team at one time or shred armor for better focus fire. The versatility that Wukong's Decoy provides is also something to give heavy consideration. If you're just looking for "melee DPS" then Xin is probably going to be a more efficient choice because his skill set is relatively mindless. Wukong's is also a simply skill set, but his simple mechanics provide a lot of depth in a way that Xin's don't.

I suggest experimenting with champions without boxing them into roles. Try out Maokai with something like Rylai's, Mercs, and Zhonya's and see what you get out of it. A lot of champions get reduced down to these simplistic roles even when their kits have a lot of diversity built into them.

I definitely agree with you that supports should strive for assists. Nothing is more awesome than heals from somebody who was able to buy a Rabadon's. My golden rule as support is such: if you do not assist in at least half of your team kills, you have failed in your role.

That being said, it is so much better for a support to find ways to buff their teammate during a 1 v 1 than for them to run over and autoattack the low health champ if the carry will clearly be able to nab the kill, especially since support can usually thrive with just basic items. Even if you're healing a full health teammate just for the assist. Use the chance to practice landing Lux's W while running or finding the perfect timing for Soraka's silence.

Also, if the enemy champ will make it away barely alive, sure as shit cut them off and kill them. Then type in all chat "LOL SONA AUTOATTACK OP."

Of course, I'm purely speaking from the support standpoint. Everybody else can KS if they want.

Yes, try to get it with heals or shields or some such, but if all else fails, use an attack or something to get the last hit if your shit is on cd or you have no mana or something.

I'm sorry but I don't believe in Kill Steals. Not in LoL anyway, I've seen too many champs escape or flash out with like a sliver of health, to feel that you can actually KS someone. I don't even care if it's Lux using her ult on a guy that has a sliver of health and the entire team is there.

Nuke that enemy down like there was no tomorrow.

Yeah, it's kill secured. I'd rather have assist gold than no gold at all, hell fiddle could ult flash over a wall and kill a champ I was chasing or 1v1'ing and had like a sliver of health.

For all I know that bastard could have a stun, a heal, flash, or some other shitty mechanic that ends up screwing me over.

Except you'll eventually learn whether or not a champ has stun, heal, flash (or if he does, whether they're on cooldown).

I'm pretty much with Josh. If I ever complain that someone stole my kill, assume I'm joking 100% of the time.

You can KS. It's definitely a thing. There have been plenty of times where I've had a kill 100% secured and someone else swoops in get the actual last hit. I can't count the number of times I yelled at Teemer for killing with Tantrum, for example.

There are a lot of cases where I don't mind. Like a Noct comes to gank and he gets the kill instead of Caitlyn. That doesn't bother me one bit. When Taric gets the kill with Shatter, though, for First Blood when the killing bullet was actually in mid-air... that's annoying.

Kill Securing implies that the kill was not actually secured before your intervention. I ask people on a regular basis "you got that?" while they're fighting. If they say they do, I try to get in for an assist and then move on to something else. If they say no or that they're not sure or something like that, then I step in to help secure.

I like to think of myself as a guy who judges on intention. When people accidentally get a last hit on a hero because we're duking it out 2v1 and he just lands the hit? No problem.

When he flashes over (as I'm next to the guy who's dying) as Pantheon with him under 10% hp (that's 100%(?) crit chance, mind) pops ignite and uses his ult to get the kill and I type in chat "wow" and he responds in a hostile or dismissive fashion, there's something known as killstealing.

It's just a bloody waste of abilities for no reason other than an incremental to a stat. It frustrates me to no end when people waste useful abilities that could have been used for something else to just stomp a guy's dead corpse into the ground in order to "guarantee he's dead", to only get jumped by the enemy team and you know what? That Tristana ult would have been AWESOME as they came in a direct line towards us.

I will say, Tyr, that if a Pantheon has enough time to flash, ignite, AND ult, you deserved to lose that kill.
