Not really. If you start getting juggled, you're probably pretty fucked.
The dodge move and charge attacks are the best way to handle enemy officers. Adding Ice to your weapon also really helps. Flash might also be useful, but by the time I can ever afford it (I'm assuming we're still talking about Empires for the purposes of this) it's the least necessary thing in the game. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. =/
Surprise attacks are annoying is shit too. It's like a free ride to one of the bases right next to my main camp.

You basically have to drop everything you're doing to try to intercept them, otherwise...yeah, you lose a key base.
Of course, I usually just bump into them by accident when I do stop them.

As someone who's never bought a single Dynasty Warriors game before, where's a good place to start? I've got a pretty low tolerance for mindless grinding which is why I've stayed away from the series before now, but I figure it's time to give it a go. The management aspects sound kinda interesting, I've always had a penchant for building my own crew and fist-bumping the screen whenever I succeed.

6 is as good a place as any. They're all relatively the same in game mechanics, with only a few small changes to separate them.
I'd honestly advise against just the regular games. Empires or Xtreme Legends are fun because they add an extra element to all that mindless grinding.
For the first one, I'd suggest 6.
While I greatly enjoy Empires, I think a lot of the cool extra stuff would be lost on someone who hasn't played any of the other games and gotten familiar with the story/characters. EDIT: I also find Empires to be more "grindy" than 6. I enjoy it in a game like this, but I can easily see how someone else might not. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. I recommend Empires (having not played anything except the Empires vein).
And yeah. Might as well buy 6. I got 6: Empires for $40 new at Gamestop, which isn't bad for a game that came out less than two months ago. Amazon used would probably do you well.

Monster Hunter is so insanely differcult at times. What is it with Capcom and making incredible hard games?
Don't get me wrong I like challenging games, to a degree, but not games where you have to play a level 5-10 times over before you can finally complete it. That sort of differculty takes away from the fun, for me atleast.

Yeah. I'm cool with that in Splinter Cell.
I'm not cool with that in Ninja Gaiden.

Oh dear god, don't start on Ninja Gaiden. I still have nightmares.
"NOW THE TUTORIAL'S OVER YOUR ASS IS OURS" was the general feel of the game. Stupid ninja dogs. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Don't play it on hard mode
Seriously though, the game would have been 65.2% better if they removed everything that planted bombs on you. ![]() When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

I liked Ninja Gaiden...

Game is fun as hell when I'm not getting bowel-raped.

Ninja Gaiden was really great, but yeah as Rem says, anything that plants bombs should GET THE FUCK OUT or at least let you have some sort of anti-measure against bombs. Is the ninja too retarded to just grab it and rip it off?
