The Construct saga was 'Calculating Catastrophe.' Weren't there also two or three 'Master of Assassins' competitions on Mercy? And I know that Yamu had a giant thread on Arlia that had an impact the entire planet (if I recall correctly). When it comes to Frost and Namek, I can't recall anything particularly planet-impacting.

Edit - And wasn't there a last saga before Turnover? I think there might have been one (maybe it flopped or something given its status as a footnote in my mind >_> )

That's right, Calculating Catastrophe.

I remember the Yamu thread on Arlia. It was called 'The Regulators,' and I was a part of it for a small portion of time when I was Majin Buu. I think that was also when Dana came back as Chi Chi.

EDIT2: Yeah, Reb did a saga called "Chubbs: Vita Novum" that I don't think ever finished, so I'm not sure if it counts as canon. That was right after Zangya had her baby (lol).

I should probably note that it's over three pages, but it's worth the read. We had a lot of good writers, a lot of action, and it's a great story.

I hope my summary of Friend or Foe 1 didn't leave out any pivotal things. It was hard to read through the high-points with all the screwed up formatting of everything prior to '09.



Friend or Foe 1 (2004) – Several warriors were taken to a cabin on a remote world. With the chance to win a Dragon Ball, the combatants were placed in teams and thrown into various locations with maps and tasks to complete. Despite finishing their tasks, the survivors were sorted into new teams and thrown out into the landscape with new objectives. Throughout the bizarre contest, many bonds of friendship were tested. The combatants were forced to call their morals into question as they sought out the medals needed to claim the prize. When an army invaded and the warriors started to grow out of control, Brim (the host) began to have his composure slowly eroded. Soon, Brim was forced to take down the surviving contestants, and after forcing them into combat with a woman named Akira Dezmon, he personally fought Bra (the future King of Vegeta). In the end, Brim found himself confronted by Goku, Gohan, and Goten—a father and his two loving sons. In the end, Goku defeated Brim.


Friend or Foe 2 (2005-2006) – The popular sequel to the hit 'reality' show Friend or Foe. For this event, the contestants were sent away to the barren asteroid Kala, which had formerly been home to a small population. The contestants, who were whittled away at regular intervals either due to injuries or attempts to keep up the ratings, explored the ruins on Kala. They faced zombie-infested hospitals, giant monster-infested caverns, and the depths of their own depravity. Midway through the contest, the Final 21 were incarcerated by the host and executive producer, Brim. Despite his plans, they escaped, and as the situation on Kala descended into chaos, Brim found his death at the hands on one of the contestants. In the wake of it all, the survivors were rescued and forced to endure the darkness within their minds. The remaining eight contestants found themselves caught in the middle of a struggle between a group of angels and the minions of a demon called Satan. Although the 'game' was long over, the survivors stayed to see the conflict to its conclusion. In the end, the three remaining from the original pool of forty-two (Reijin, Bra, and Android 17) partook in the final confrontation between the angels and demons. Through the bloodshed, Reijin rose to new heights, becoming a Super Saiyan 2 and defeating Satan. Thus, the bloody saga on Kala drew to its close, with many unaware of the true cost paid by the men and women who gave their lives.

Friend or Foe 3 (2009) – An homage to the original reality show that claimed so many innocent lives, Friend or Foe 3 began by pitting groups of warriors against one another. Now hosted by Kai Demonlic (the 'stage name' of Gregory Rogers), the contestants soon found themselves facing various challenges from the host's personal goons. After a very dramatic battle in an old ghost town, the survivors set out to defeat said goons and obtain emblems that unlocked the inside of an old temple. Before they had a chance to confront Kai, they had to confront their own ruined futures. Of the five original contestants, four—Sophia, Ashe, Piper, and Sage—went to challenge Kai Demonlic and put an end to his plot. The four battled the madman within the heart of an active volcano, with Sophia making the ultimate sacrifice to try and bring down Kai. In the end, the genius had become a scheming madman as his show's popularity grew, and in the end, he got to watch as Piper and her surviving friends escape as he sank, crying and alone, into the gaping maw of the volcano.

The Vegeta Rebellion (2006) – With King Vegeta I dead from a poisoned apple at the height of an uprising, the entire planet that bore his name was thrown into civil war. Prince Vegeta (soon thereafter King Vegeta II), Prince Trunks, Prince Bra, and many other well-known warriors (including the ever-present Raditzu) arrived on the planet shortly after news of the old King's demise was known. The forces loyal to the royal family came together and organized a counter-attack against the rebels. In the large-scale pitched-battle that followed, the full moon rose over Vegeta, causing all saiyans with tails to turn into oosarus. During the conflict, King Vegeta I returned, seemingly unaffected despite dying earlier. As the giant monkey battle began to wind down, the rebel 'Chancellor' arrived as an oosaru and beat down Vegeta II before the full moon set. The chancellor was revealed to be Sativa, a rebel saiyan leader and talented warrior. Despite her power, Sativa found her match in the saiyan loyalists and was nearly beaten before fusing with one of her underlings. Through fusion, Raditzu and Android 18 were able to battle Sativa on more even ground. Even still, it took intervention from Lord Vine, the seemingly ageless guardian of the saiyan homeworld, to defeat the madwoman. In the end, the royal family was reaffirmed in their control of the world and left to rebuild the ruined capitol city.

Dante's Abyss: Conquest (2006 – 2007) – A change to the format of Dante's Abyss, Conquest featured teams of officers and their faithful soldiers battling for supremacy on a brand spanking new island! Fortifications would be built, towns would be garrisoned, and drama would be had all around as the opposing forces fought to emerge from the abyss of warfare as champions! From a pool of dozens of contestants (and hundreds of nameless, far less important people), four teams were created and each assigned a quadrant of the map. The Dante Forces were organized under Broli and the monarch of planet Vegeta, King Vegeta I and clad in blue. The United Army, under the leadership of the short-statured by never boring Garlic Jr., joined battle as the red team. Syntech Corporation sponsored its own team under the rule of Zarbon and outfitted its men in grey and black (how chic!). The riffraff, the unloved, and the misfits were tossed into yellow and put under the leadership of Android 17. Over several weeks, these four armies clashed along their borders. With its strong, authoritarian leadership and ability to broke a deal with the United Army, the Dante Forces were able to catch defeat Syntech's main army in a pitched battle. With the Outcasts' commander caught in the confusing mist that shrouded the center of the island, the Dante Forces swivled around to attack the Outcasts. Despite the arrival of the Outcasts' commander, the battle was joined by the United Army, and Android 17 was captured and executed. His best lieutenant, Super Buu, championed a defense of their castle before his death. Afterwards, the Dante Forces were able to marshal and defeated their former ally, the United Army, and claim the title of Conquest Champions!


(I ever mention how much I've always hoped there would be another one of these? I mean, all of our sagas are already military-themed, I'm surprised something similar [or even a down-scaled version to reflect a smaller pool of members] never came up *shrug*)

Kill Town (2010) – Genius sometimes drives a man to strange things. Keith Summers, the son of an influential businessman, used his genius, talent with computers, and unyielding love for gaming to capture twenty people to partake in his virtual reality carnival. Once inside 'Kill Town,' the collection of twenty individuals, who ran the gamut from couriers and thugs to two of planet Vegeta's princes, were subjected to several rounds of insane, life-threatening challenges. They were ordered to outdo their peers to collect medals, and for days, they remained unconscious prisoners within 'Gamer's' virtual reality. That is, of course, until they bumped into his sister and counter-intelligence operative Kurtis Stone trapped within the world as well. Working together, the pair managed to use the other contestants to escape from Kill Town and confront a frantic Keith Stone in the real world. With his prisoners freed, the genius had a breakdown and was taken away by the authorities.

I still think this was my favorite saga that wasn't a reality show or competition or some sort.



Calculating Catastrophe (2008) – In the warm summer days, a small town was besieged by strange, alien invaders. To respond to this small-scale attack, some of the Earth's most powerful defenders went to the scene and fought back against the attacks. With the arrival of the super-powered warriors, the invasion force amplified with many of its own countermeasures, including giant scorpions and a formidable fighter called Adam. The battles all converged on a tall building nicknamed the Spire, where the planet's defenders were confronted by a massive eye coordinating the attacks and in the employ of 'the Construct.' Forced to battle the creature's mental onslaught, the group was saved by an agent of the Brotherhood and whisked away before a giant explosion destroyed Meridian City. The Brotherhood then set the group out to destroy another city taken over by the Construct. To overcome the odds, Burter and Android 18 fused to create Reptile 18, an entity strong enough to shatter the entrenched defenses and bring the fight to the core of the enemy forces. Upon 'saving' the city, the band of super-powered warriors went on to attack the Construct itself—a massive space craft. They fought mighty odds, including physical manifestations of the Construct, Adam, and other bio-mechanical abominations. In the end, it was Belle Hibiki who indirectly trapped the Construct in a human body, and to ensure the destruction of the ship, the saiyan princess Bra and Android 17 stayed behind, voiding their lives to ensure the survival of the other warriors.

I always thought it was interesting that everybody liked this saga so much. It was the TOUGHEST to host, by far and while I enjoyed it - I probably had more trouble with this one then any other. But it's also one of the most popular I've ever run.

So, I mean, if people like it, I certainly wouldn't mind trying it again before I leave this duty station at the end of 2012

I would genuinely love to see another DA:C. I think the only roadblock/obstacle is the fact that Chubbs doesn't have enough active members to pull one off (the first DA:C had, what, forty people? Now I think I can count the active writers without having to use my toes) =(
