Question: Do "Premade 5v5" teams match up with randoms? Was looking at the leaderboard...thing and, uh

With those kinds of loss ratios I'm reaaaaally hoping they're not going around invading my future random queues and making it even harder to get a nice, even match

-_- Tried to make that info look neater and it looks fine in the edit box I type in and comes out like that, dunno

Did Hotshot really get knocked off the list despite only playing on his kakasoul account lately?

And I am continuously surprised to see a Lilac at the top lists.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

just saw the "Bundles"

Wish they cost less per hero I'd already bought(that was part of the bundle), fuck fuck fuck

Super edit: Less annoyed now since I've decided not to buy one. The ones I don't have are ones I don't want for the most part and I'll just wind up buying the singles that fit my playstyle

No. That's ranked 5s. Hotshot is rarely ranked for 5s anymore. He basically just plays solo.

@Sig: HotshotGG is one of the highest ranked players in the game. Well known in the community. He and another buy called ReginaId are constantly going back and forth for the #1 place in solo ranked ELO.

LoL uses a ranking system called the Elo system, which was invented for chess. What it does is assign players a ranking and then use that to match them against players of similar ranking.

The guys on that list mostly play just each other because of their rankings. There's no chance you'll be matched against.

Anyone else not like it when random people add you after a match?

I mean, it's flattering of course, but then I get nervous if I'm invited to a game with them because I want to earn the place if you know what I mean and do as well if not better than the game I got friended for. Always makes me tense.

Also, I have to say I like 3v3 much better than 5v5. I can own the success or fail so much more and understand why what happened, did. I find myself wondering wtf was going on sometimes in 5v5s. Everything seems fine, then all of a sudden fail cascades and a grand disadvantage to work against, be it feeding or towers lost or whatever.

I usually just accept random invites. I agree that it's flattering but I am usually not in need of teammates.

Random friend invites creates some cool friendships from time to time on LoL. I even had so many random f invites that once when queueing with Chubbs we ran into 4 people I knew. I think we rolled them.

Be better than your opponent, basically. I think taking mid the best way to get good at laning in general, though, since your mistakes stand out more. Aside from regular laning stuff like harassing, zoning and last hitting, you also have to be that much more map aware since enemies could come from either sides. When you have the opportunity in a normal game and you know your character, do it.

Learn how much damage your character does is what I think you personally could improve on. In 1v1 situations, knowing when to fight and when to flee is a tremendous advantage.

That's the thing, imo. If you show people that they will lose every time they try to trade shots with you, they'll stop trying. It also depends on the champion you're playing.

When there's nothing to last hit, try taking a shot or two at your opponent when they can't return fire. Free damage helps a lot in a lane. Since minions only aggro when you target an enemy champion specifically, there are plenty of champions (Kennen, EZ, Karthus, etc.) who can take shots without pulling minions, which is another huge thing. Take as little minion damage as possible. Those bastards hurt.

Solo laning is 100% about efficient use of your resources. If I see a Ryze who only has enough mana to cast one spell, you better believe I'm going to bait it and then dive his ass.

A lot of it ends up being done unconsciously, but that's what you want to be paying attention to. Also, don't stay around your tower with little-to-no health. They will dive you and you almost certainly will die. Yeah, it sucks when you have to go back to lane and lose out on experience, but you know what sucks more? Losing out on experience AND giving the enemy team gold. True story.

Yeah, it's basically a combination of all of the above. Taking as little damage as possible while giving as much damage as possible is the key, weighed against getting those last hits.

On another point, if someone knows they lose when they trade shots with you, be aggressive. When you see one of your minions dip toward last-hit status, go for some harassment. Unless you've miscalculated, they'll either run off (meaning they missed the last hit), or engage you and lose for it.

It's very important that you have a way of damaging them if they get in range, and it's very important that that method isn't paltry.

So I know that those tips are second nature to some of you guys, but I just played a 14/3/3 as Vayne solo mid (other team surrendered at 25 minutes) while keeping what you've said in mind. Thank you so much for the help!

Establishing a power dynamic as early as possible is really important. If you're winning trade-offs and everyone in the lane knows it, you'll know as soon as something changes.

As Vayne, for example, a Tristana tries to get a last hit. You roll in and hit with a Q proc. This happens a couple of times and the Trist stops moving in for last hits, instead waiting for the minion wave to push forward. Suddenly she moves forward and starts taking shots at you.

That's a gank. Get out.

The sooner you can establish predictable patterns of behavior, the more blatant it will be when they're broken. When they do break, it means a gank nine times out of ten.
