And you woooon't </superkamiguru>
The merchandising in Japan is on a whole nother level. You can get anything-branded ... anything. Like, you can get One Piece towels, candy, snacks, pencils, face cream, WHATEVER YOU NEED WITH A LUFFY/CHOPPER ON IT, I CAN HOOK YOU UP. DBZ is the same, especially right now with the movie out. Goku eating KFC chicken is everywhere. I'm serious. Here's one from my facebook:
He loves that shit.
So anyway, I watched the DBZ movie today. Somewhat-spoilers-warning-but-probably-nothing-you-havent-already-guessed:
It wasn't that good, IMO. Didn't expect it to be great but, still gotta see it for what it is. I honestly think a lot of this film is Toriyama trying to one-up GT by making a more powerful form than SSJ4. Better than the last 'special/film' but the same kind of tone. Nobody dies and it never gets too srs, kind of anticlimactic.
Again with Toriyama middle-fingering people, the credits roll past all the manga stories super fast, and although it goes through the Buu saga, it ends on the iconic shot of Gohan firing the kamehameha with Goku's spirit behind him, which I think is a pretty clear indicator that that's where Toriyama considers the 'real' ending of DBZ to be. This film was more fanservice than actual story, like the last special. Still, dudes get punched and there are some badass moments and I'm glad I went to see it so I can brag I saw it in the cinema. Still wish I'd seen One Piece Film Z more though, BUT I MISSED MY CHANCE IT STOPPED SHOWING BEFORE I GOT TO KAGOSHIMA =
Also there are moments they seem to say "super saiyan level/power doesn't matter all that much compared to just being mad" or "fuck it, everyone likes SSJ more than the other later forms anyway". At the beginning Goku makes a big show of going SSJ3 and gets taken out effortlessly, none of his punches do any damage. Later, both Goku and Vegeta hold their own in separate instances just in regular SSJ. So ... make what you will of that.
Also apparently there are hints that there might be more specials, I wouldn't be surprised because MONEY. This film kind of proves you can just shout "DBZ! DBZ!" and people will come in their thousands.
