Agreed. I've talked to Akane over AIM before, she's a pretty nice gal, and I could easily see her getting a position on staff once she gets some experience under her belt, but to give her a position now, when she hasn't even been here a month, when other candidates who have contributed to the site in a much more significant fashion are passed over, well...

I wonder how much it is jealousy loating around about Akane, and how much of it is actual concern that she is too inexperienced for the position of Story Guide.

Krillin, you have to admit that it is ... weird. I mean, people contribute for years and never become staff, and she's been roleplaying for a few weeks, a time at which I would consider someone fairly inexperienced with the way things work, and she's been staffed. Whichever way you look at it, it's strange. Like I said, I'd be interested to know what separated her out from the other dozens of people who could potentially make awesome staffers.

And sorry, but if you knew KB, you wouldn't dare accuse him of jealousy. He's never attempted to become staff on any site I've been on with him (including DBA, and I remember he didn't join Chubbs Idol), so he's hardly what I would call power-hungry. I think you're a cool guy, but that was a very stupid assumption to make.

Personally, I don`t see why anybody would be jealous of Akane unless they are stupid. Staff members don`t have a lot of privliges but do have a lot of duties to fulfill. The only mayor positive side of being a staff member is that it usually means your an honored member of the RPG which you help to manage. And even that isn`t a given. For one to become staff member he really has to be devoted to doing his job without expecting much in return. And you can`t expect that from many people.

In any case...I have a great suspicion that Akane is somebody who is familiar to the higher staff members from before. The fact that her roleplays are of preety high-quality prove she isn`t a total starter in roleplaying. If staff has placed her in staff this early, she must have been a big shot in some other RPG (Assasins or even Zento come to mind) or even from the early days of Chubbs.

Still, it is quite dangerous to give authority into the hands of someone who doesn`t really know the various ups and downs of the RPG. In a lot of cases, trouble brews for a long time before it pops out. So honestly, I am quite undecided on the matter.

However, given how much Akane is a questionable equasion, I would have felt better if someone just as qualified from the CDBZ community took the job.

There are only like, 3 people who have mentioned it as suspicious, including me, Kibbles and Violet. You can't really say you were making a general reference without accusing someone of being jealous, unless you were just being overly sarcastic for the sake of humour. I most certainly CAN say I was making a general reference, since I was referring to the whole idea of suspicion surrounding Akane. There wasn't a single accusation in there whatsoever. I'm genuinely curious.

I'd really appreciate it if you'd find yourself a way out of my throat as soon as possible.

But yeah, I agree. From my experience everyone starts to slow down once the hype wears off and they get into the rhythm of things. Not to say Akane won't go on to become even more active. It's too early to tell.

Let me just drop this...I've been here for about 2 years and have more posts than half the staff that has been here since before 2003, I say 2003 because that's when the boards and post count reset...with that said, if it were based on activity alone, I'd probably, or Burter would, be Admin by now...so activity is a load of crock as far as to why she was made staff.

I'm slightly indifferent to the whole situation, but perhaps staff should give an actual reason as to why she was selected, just to cool the flames, I mean, if there is a logical explanation as to why she's staff, then there should be no reason as to why that reason can't be said, is there?

My person opinion on it, as a new member of chubbs, she shouldn't have been promoted to staff, but I'm not staff and I'm not one to make desicions, but I do trust the current staff and their decisions and if they say she's going to be staff, then I trust their judgement and if it falls through, then someone will eventually recieve her position.

My idea as to what should happen.

Give the girl a chance, for all we know she could me more available than the rest of the staff, may be better at running saga's than Burter, and possibly more diverse in coding than VJ. We don't know any of this until we give her a chance...so let's do just that, give her a chance. =D

Untrue, I was surprised by Rad this morning myself. =P

I asked him some of the reasons of the people who leave the staff, come on the staff and the shufflement for the staff. As long as Reijin and Rad both agree on big decisions and they have decent reasonings I generally put an okay-stamp on it.
